John Roberts Is Responsible For America’s Embarrassing Gerrymandering Mess

I suspect W isn’t a mean person. He is a person of such intellectual vacuity that he just knows not what he doeth. Like the Mad Magazine mascot.

German, with its tinker-toy facility to craft compound words, has a very evocative one: Schreibtischmörder, “writing-desk murderer.” It is, of course, usually used to describe the Nazi bureaucrats in their heinous machinery of death. One transport here, a trainload of cattle cars there, a shipment of gas cylinders over here, fill out the forms, pass them along.

Roberts is committing desk-murder of the constitutional order.

Trump has messed up international post. It’s not just packages, but letters, too.

Why in the fuck is California settling for five new districts, when it could get nine?

You fucking punch fascists back twice as hard.

The funny thing is that Marbury is the paradigm for this kind of bonkers decision, in which the Court seizes tons of authority by claiming it has none at all. It was clever and perhaps necessary in Marbury, if there’s value in judicial review. But it was a variation on sleight-of-hand illusion. Made some of us giggle when we first saw it, but it’s infuriating in the transparently partisan ways it’s been used in our lifetimes.

I understand we don’t vote for SCOTUS justices, but we do vote for the Senate, who is responsible for the interview and confirmation process.

How much of all of this is the fault of the American voter, who continually votes against their own interests in electing Republicans? Gerrymandering has nothing to do with Presidential or Senate elections, but the Republicans seem to have no problem getting elected with gerrymandering out of the process.

We have done this to ourselves.

In more recent elections, the voters were REMINDED, and frequently, that Senate elections were critical for judicial placements and STILL the voters elected Republicans in the majority.

Roberts is 100% on board with Republican corruption:

Love it. Thanks. So they had a word for it, eh?

Funny how Rove used to be the poster boy for evil political tricks like starting stories about how Alabama judges who worked with kids had to be a pedophile. The moral goal posts have move so far from those days that Rove’s maleficence appears to be the work of an old fogey. (P.S. I am with you on Rove’s evil.)

Doesn’t The International Court of Justice still have an APB out on W for his adventure in Iraq?

Roberts is to Trump what the pro-Nazi judge who sentenced Hitler to 18 months in prison for leading an armed insurrection. Hitler ran away as soon as there were gunshots, Trump ran away before there were gunshots, allowing the Roberts Court to pretend that Trump was not trying to overthrow the government. The net result in both cases is that Roberts and the pro-Nazi judge protected wannabe dictators and attacked democracy and the rule of law.
