I guess they won’t be receiving state funds. I hope their infrastructure is up-to-date. It will also be interesting to see what happens to property taxes, local sales taxes, etc., as this little 'burg tries to pay for its services, schools, etc. These idiots should be made to pay for this idiocy. Trying to secede from a state should have serious consequences.

Pretty sure California’s Secretary of State, tax authorities and various committees in the legislature are looking at the legal implications of such a stunt. A lot of this is driven by misinformation, and when the city council learns of the legal effects of this “protest” it is unlikely they will push it. Oroville is the Butte County seat, so there are also wider implications for the county as a whole. These idiots could cause a lot of collateral damage to people that don’t even live in Oroville.
