And, hopefully, she can hold The Squad and other Progressives together on this vote - I think she will.
If it turns out that Schumer and Manchin orchestrated the blow up last week to put one over on McConnell, my respect for both of them will increase exponentially.
Is it possible joe manchin is reading the tea leaves…
Maybe he is doubting republicans are guaranteed a win in November.
Man, this is the whole thing. Unlike @dr_coyote, I don’t really trust the “true progressives” not to spike the deal in the house to demand ala Bernie a more pure set of bills, but here’s hoping they’ll accept something and then try to pick up where they left off.
This!
I cannot imagine them spiking the whole deal. And enough of the Bernie Bro s&&& Jayapal knows her group and she wouldn’t come out with strong support if they weren’t with her.
Thou shalt not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
ETA. Take this now. Win more seats in November. Make it better next year.
She’s smart, I hope she thinks she can sell this to her voters back home in SEA.
100%.
Thou shalt realize that, when it comes to legislation that can pass, there is no perfect.
VP Harris is holding Sinema’s Fuck Off ring. If she doesn’t vote yes, the ring gets melted.
Hmm
5th-6th grade.
Took a solid throw to the back of the head, running from second to third. No helmet at the time. We tossed it off on the run after getting our hit. Went down hard on my face. Cut myself on glass in the dirt.
I cried.
At least the coach didn’t tell me to walk it off. But there is crying in baseball. I hated Little League.
We wants it. We needs it. Must have my Precious …
Either Manchin or Sinema will torpedo this bill simply because they can. Sinema would do it for the camera time … Manchin would just because he’s a huge infected pus filled boil on the ass of the Senate.
The fact that McConnell is making noises hinting at a Manchin double cross for voting with Democrats, as if the latter were a Republican, says a good deal about the odd state of play these days.
I will amend that to “unless you’re a kid.”
Read what’s been posted about how this deal happened. Manchin is on board. It’s only Sinema that’s the unknown vote, and I don’t believe Schumer and Jayapal would be promoting the bill the way they are today if they didn’t already know Sinema will vote for it.
Another indication is how pissed the R’s are, including McConnell. They wouldn’t be this pissed if they had Sinema in their pocket, and knew the bill wouldn’t pass.
I agree. Manchin still is a Blue Hydrogen guy, just like Putin. The problem with the Progressive Caucus is that they don’t acknowledge the de facto Regressive Caucus in their own midst. Climate disruption will continue even with this bill of limited vision. Indeed, even if all human-based carbon emissions ceased at this point it would take several centuries to restore planetary atmospheric and oceanic equilibrium.
“The ‘Democrats In Disarray’ calls are coming from inside the house!”
(Some posters will always try to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.)
I absolutely see this as step forward and think it should be of substantial benefit to democrats electorally. However, I just saw a report on CNN only a short while ago this afternoon that Andrew Yang, other democrats, and former or completely disaffected republicans now are creating a new third party. Andrew Yang was promoting it in a live interview on CNN. I think this very well may be substantially bad news.
