I think it will be interesting to find the connection between Eastman and Clark.

I wonder if these guys simply never considered their brazen acts would become public and thus that they would be held accountable.

Esquire is usually a courtesy title. In the United Kingdom, Esquire historically was a title of respect accorded to men of higher social rank, particularly members of the landed gentry above the rank of gentleman and below the rank of knight…

Clark is a real weenie.
He’ll piss all over himself testifying, and probably say more than he means to say.

After he sees others referred for criminal contempt, he’ll honor the subpoena, because of his overweening weenyism.

Yep. He is to the DOJ what Nate Shelley is to AFC Richmond. He thought he was more boss than he really is.

Clark joined Kirkland & Ellis as a lawyer during 1996–2001 and 2005–2018. (During 2001–2005 he served in the George W. Bush administration as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the Justice Department.[11]) At Kirkland & Ellis, Clark represented the United States Chamber of Commerce in lawsuits challenging the federal government’s authority to regulate carbon emissions and the Environmental Protection Agency’s “endangerment finding”.[12]

From 2012 to 2015, he was a member of the governing council of the American Bar Association’s Administrative Law Section.[2] He is also a member of the Federalist Society.[13]

Kirkland & Ellis have some 'splaining to do. The man just seems like an odd duck.

K&E has some ‘splainin’ to do about being such a repellent right-wing law firm.

I thought lawyers still claimed it, here if not across the pond.

They never considered they might not win. Or to bring the win to TFG would have resulted in a set-for-life appointment (in more ways than one) for them such that a 1 in 100 shot was worth it. These people are mostly nobodies.

Opportunist has to take that opportunity.

Jeffrey Clark reminds me of a great line from the classic film “All About Eve”:

Miss Caswell: “Why do they all look like unhappy rabbits?”

Addison DeWitt: “Because that’s what they are, my dear.”

“The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed credible evidence that you attempted to involve the Department of Justice in efforts to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power,” the committee wrote in its letter.

“This is not a social call.”

I think it’s the former rather than the latter. They actually believed, and still believe. What’s doubly dumbfounding is they think Trump would honor their efforts with any degree of loyalty.
