First of all, kudos to Summer Concepcion for pumping out another story on this August Sunday. It’s a refreshing change.
Secondly, it seems to me with the noises Pence and Cheney are making, that it’s likely he’ll testify. There seems to be something Pence wants to say and publicly at that. I expect he’ll negotiate a narrow set of parameters of questions that the 1/6 Committee can ask him, and they’ll agree because it will help both sides.
There was an invitation, your role was no different than any other modern VP unless you want to count the distance your tongue was up TFG’s rectum, and if Gerald Ford can testify before a congressional committee when he was president you can bloody well do it as a former VP; i.e., now that you are a private citizen just like your previous boss.
Cripes these Repug jackasses are exhausting.
ETA: As my grandma used to say, listening to those people is like getting your head pushed through a bowl of oatmeal.
Don’t know why he would do that? His political career is OVER and that’s due to allowing himself to be tainted by Trump. Pence is immensely unpopular with Democrats / Liberals and in about the same position with MAGA Republicans. NO MATTER what he says in a Jan 6 interview he worsens both those positions. I doubt he opts for public testimony and just dodges and weaves behind closed door. He’s toast. No reason for him to lie or be truthful…neither work for him.
“I would have to reflect on the unique role that I was serving as vice president…But, as I said, I don’t want to prejudge ever any formal invitation rendered to us.”
Seriously! What a fathead! Who talks like this? Rendered? Invitations are rendered?
And “to us”? Having a mob want to hang him doesn’t render him royal status.
He may talk a little about the SS, but probably in context of how much danger they were in. I expect he’ll, modesty of course, point out how courageous and resolute they were (and him too) in the face of danger. That he could have fled and chose not to. Putting that out there in Primetime in September wouldn’t be the worst idea, though I’m with all of you who think he has no chance of winning the Republican nomination.
The other thing though, if he’s halfway human, (a real question, I know) he must want some degree of revenge on the man who literally tried to have him killed. If he sees his election prospects dwindling, perhaps that takes priority? I don’t know. Can’t say I understand the first thing about Mike Pence.
I want to know which policeman allowed a truck full of lumber to drive onto the mall and unload, then stood by for the 90 minutes or so it took to build that thing. I know in the grand scheme it’s pretty small but important nonetheless.
