Jan. 6 Defendant Allegedly Blabbed To Undercover Fed About Riot, Jailbreak Scheme | Talking Points Memo

A new defendant in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack case needs better friends.

According to court records filed over last week and recently unsealed, Fi Duong spilled some incriminating evidence to an undercover FBI employee — a source he was introduced to by an undercover Metropolitan Police Department employee he’d met at the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

So he discussed making bombs and breaking people out of jail and they released him pending trial? Did I read that right?

From reading Fi Duong’s quotes (here and in other articles), it seems that he has delusions of grandeur. That’s not peculiar to him – most of these guys seem to.

Their burning desire to be the apex predator (or apex “re-founder” of the United States) makes me wonder… As a group, what sort of success do they have in their non-imaginary lives?

Yeah, who out there starts casual conversations with strangers about building Molotov cocktails anyway? And breaking people out of prison – what sort of trashy novels is he reading?

Comic books?

Sadly, if a Trump supporter reads this, all they will take away is that there were undercover police at the Capitol insurrection, so they must be the ones responsible for the attack.

What’s the first rule of fight club again?

Probably not a lot. If they had better imaginations, they probably would have been escaping to D&D in their youth to be the big, strong warriors they can’t be in real life. Instead, they’ve turned to LARPing as renegade soldiers (sometimes with live ammunition, which is when they wind up getting arrested).

I was just musing to myself that if there is any positive to the insurrectionists and their methods, it would be that they are not very good at what they do.

The guy who coordinated the oath keepers on January 6th was a car salesman.

“I would not [he then sarcastically coughed], I would not think to put in a little bit of Styrofoam, a little bit of motor oil, and some gasoline in said wine bottles,” he added later, as quoted by the affidavit. “I wouldn’t have the first thought of doing that whatsoever.”

Wait, you mean this brilliant reverse mind dodge devised in the tree fort didn’t work?

Interesting - I wonder how many more undercover Feds were in the crowd in Jan. 6th. Their testimony could be the end for a lot of these dead-enders at trial. I hope there were a bunch of them. Maybe the FBI was not as unprepared and unresponsive as we thought.
