Jackson Boycott Idea Collapses After Some Republicans Show Reluctance

It would only take one Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee to thwart a boycott of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearing — and as of Thursday, there are at least four.

Why don’t they just say they won’t for any Dem nominee ever and get rid of this charade?

The GQP is afraid of confirming that they even more horribly racist than they already are.

What a conundrum…

It’s most unfortunate that Democratic inability to win more Senate seats gives Manchin and Sinema such outsized leverage, but here we are.

And give up such a fund-raising bonanza?

“Just say no” can’t pull in the bucks nearly as well as “grave concerns”.

“If we’re gonna vote, I’m gonna vote,” he [Hawley] said. “I’m gonna vote no.”

That is:

  1. perfectly predictable,
  2. performative racism, and
  3. a badge of honor for the nominee.

How sick and twisted does the GQP have to get before there’s the pushback that this requires? We are imperiled, our democracy is at risk, if our leaders cannot rise to the occasion. Wake up, Villagers, wake up!

How about they vote yes on Jackson, and Biden agrees to nominate Ginni when God takes Thomas to His Bosom?/s

“As their disinformation campaign picked up momentum, they started demanding access to the pre-sentencing reports for these cases. Every Republican but Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) signed on to a letter demanding the reports…”

During the Kavanaugh hearings, Republicans didn’t wanna know about any children who were raped.

Now they wanna review every report they can get their hands on?

Democrats have the votes to confirm her alone, only putting her in real danger if one of them flips.

What is Manchin’s price? - sadly there is a price … he would sell out if the incentive was sufficient.

Matt Gaetz is the GOP’s expert on porn so why was he not called in as a adviser?

Some Republican members suggested getting the reports in a classified setting, or getting redacted copies.

Those are reports about child abuse. Republicans want to revel in them, presenting a contrived stream of perverted conjecture associated with the name of a distinguished judge.

This following candidate Trump’s disparagement of judges as a campaign point.

There’s corruption, and there’s sickness and depravity, and then there’s the Republican Party.

And perhaps this will spur a stroke. No names of course.

For those with firewall issues:
Virginia Thomas, a conservative activist married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, repeatedly pressed White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to pursue unrelenting efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in a series of urgent text exchanges in the critical weeks after the vote, according to copies of the messages obtained by The Washington Post and CBS News.

The messages – 29 in all – reveal an extraordinary pipeline between Virginia Thomas, who goes by Ginni, and President Donald Trump’s top aide during a period when Trump and his allies were vowing to go to the Supreme Court in an effort to negate the election results.

Here you go, every pre-sentencing report appropriately redacted to protect the victims:

Thanks for posting past the firewall.

I can’t believe she told Meadows that Trump shouldn’t concede.

Let’s see: If this was the spouse of a liberal Justice, would there be pressure to resign? Nah.

I don’t think that every GOP senator will vote no on Jackson so we can confirm her with just Democrats but we won’t have to.

Suspect that Hawley’s nauseatingly ugly racist performance only served to reinforce Danforth’s opinion of this low-life
