Not that sketchy if you understand the shifting demographics in FL. The state turned from a swing state to marginally Red in recent years due to two factors. First, the increasing number of conservative assholes from Northern states retiring to FL for their Golden Years. And second, the the DNC’s failure to understand how to message and retain support in the Latino community (hint, they’re not Mexicans).
And then DeSantis got reelected to a second term with a much greater margin because Dems put up a terrible candidate against him.

This judge may as well be instructing a chicken on how to peel an apple. Trump isn’t going to be bound by any judicial orders or admonishments, he’s going to do as he damn well pleases, and the resulting sanctions be damned. Anything short of jailing him won’t be a deterrent.

The culture war regarding health has already found a foothold in the St. Joseph County Council. (The State of Indiana already put the kabosh on gender affirming care, so “what else can be done to shit on the people” seems to be the R agenda here. )
From today’s South Bend Tribune:
" St. Joseph County Council member Amy Drake says language at a page of the county health department’s website is “Marxist/critical race theory.”
"The page talks about equity, a term that Drake and a fellow Republican on the council, Dan Schaetzle, say sometimes equates to troubling political ideology.
“That’s why the two led their fellow three Republicans in a 5-4 vote on May 9 to table $100,000 in funding that the health department secured from a grant to expand awareness and access to naloxone, an opioid reversal medicine that saves people from overdose deaths.” (Emphasis mine)
(This is the SECOND time this year that the Council has reversed funding for a popular Health Department program.)

Historically terrible. Hillary Clinton levels of self-pwn. A candidate who, in theory, would appeal to sensible moderates and maybe even some Republicans, but in reality is someone who has spent decades alienating everyone who ever supported him, giving nobody any reason whatsoever to trust him, and firing up nobody at all to go to the polls for him.
Yes, I am bitter that my Florida relatives reacted to Nikki Fried like she was toxic sludge compared to that sensible Charlie Crist.
