Special Counsel Jack Smith is proposing that the trial for Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 case begin on Jan. 2, 2024 — a proposal that, if granted by the judge, could mean that it would be the first of Trump’s three current criminal cases to go to trial.
On Jan 2, 2021 Sr. Orange Gibbon gave me the birthday present of a lovely recorded phone call. Now next year I get an even better gift. Thank you Mr. Smith!
Yes. A few days ago, I began to believe that Smith is quite content to have Trump’s Florida judge slow-roll the MAL documents case since that will clear the calendar to bring the January 6 case to trial first.
Everybody is really happy here; I love reading the happy-notes.
HOWEVER, that means this is all going to continue into next year.
I am going to be 73yo in November. I can’t TAKE much more of this. Please, make it end.
I will go to our local high school football field (because God seems to listen to praying football teams more than other teams for some reason I don’t understand) and kneel in the end zone and PRAY for an end of all this horror. I will ask for national reconciliation.
In light of Trump’s antics with regard to Social Media outbursts and attempts to influence the potential jury pool, it’s imperative that we not only schedule this trial as soon as possible, but that we also make the proceedings public. Cameras should be allowed in the courtroom to capture every second and it should be live-streamed daily. There is no reason not to do this that isn’t outweighed by the good it would do to have this play out in public.
Will the unfairness of interfering with Donnie’s campaigning, and spoiling his New Year’s party, be part of tfg’s team’s briefing arguing the trial should be delayed until after he’s been reelected?
“The defendant has been aware of — and has responded forcefully in opposition to — certain relevant information made public through hearings and the report written by the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol,” Smith’s office wrote, revealing that his team first made contact with Trump’s lawyers on the Jan. 6 case in June 2022.
“In sum, the defendant has a greater and more detailed understanding of the evidence supporting the charges against him at the outset of this criminal case than most defendants, and is ably advised by multiple attorneys, including some who have represented him in this matter for the last year,” his office wrote.
Sorry but no. Cameras in the courtroom will make it much easier for TRUMP’s MAGA allies to identify jurors, witnesses, and officers of the court, and thereby target them for intimidation.
Jack Smith’s discovery order would be largely for nought if we haul real-time photography into the courtroom and disseminate the target list for them.
Everything must take a back seat to the integrity of the process.
The special counsel also added that the government estimates that the case “will take no longer than four to six weeks.”
HOLY COW! That’s PDQ!!! Given the time-delay in getting to this point after Jan. 6th, this almost seems TOO fast! But, i take it that Jack has his ducks lined up, and his case is ready to go, so here’s to hoping it’s bulletproof! I’m reasonably sure it is because of who he is and the resources at his disposal. That, and also the Dotard just cannot help but further incriminate himself by confessing all of his crimes to everyone in every way imaginable.
