What would normally be a gotcha question is an absolute nothingberder. We all know Trump is incurious at best, and he’s never at his best.

So, then not mentioning to the task group about wanting to cut down testing - he hasn’t talked to them in 2-3 weeks, Trump’s statements that he ordered the cut down on testing and that he was not joking and the pulling of funding from a couple dozen testing facilities at the end of the month are all compatible, whereas the “he was only joking” statements from WH toadies are lies.

So class let’s go back and refresh our memories. Who in the maladministration was appointed to head the Coronavirus Task Force? Was it Pence? Why yes it was.
So the follow up question should have been when have any of these people talked to Pence?
Was there someone there from Pence’s office? If no why not?
I don’t care that Trump acts like a petulant child, but who is really running the response?

Trump has zero desire to learn how to address the problem of this plague from the standpoint of policy for ending the plague. He only gives a damn about the political implications, and as such will do everything in his power to mitigate the impact on his political ambitions. That means that he wants lower numbers of measured infections, and that means less testing. He doesn’t care if you get sick as long as you’re not counted. If you die, he hopes that the death certificate does not mention COVID-19.
He doesn’t care about reducing the quantity of infected or the quantity of dead. He only cares about reducing the quantity of DETECTED infected and the quantity of those who certifiably die due to COVID-19. As such, why should he talk with anyone who is responsible for mitigating the plague through the use of testing when that is counter to his desire for mitigating the quantity of detected infections and detected deaths due to the plague?

Trump is effectively acting as an executioner out of political expediency. He is actively enabling the spread of this plague.
There are more than 121,000 dead Americans due to COVID-19 as I type this.

I would prefer the placement of a sign/sticker on his forehead and back that says “Kick Or Spit On Me!”
I might be happy if the feds just placed under a large bell jar so we can taunt him without getting his cooties.

Huh. Lookit that. Trump ain’t been in the room. Shocker, huh?
He’d be happy if the inside of the bell jar was a thin sheet of sputtered aluminum. It would be a two way mirror where we could observe him while he could admire his reflection. Of course, the reflection on the inside of the mirrored bell jar would make him perceive that he looked fatter, so more for his narcissistic ass to love. He could observe his own cooties, too.
I’m not convinced that Trump even wants a lower infection rate. Remember, he lies about everything. My belief is that he sees an electoral advantage is promoting voting chaos. Recent primaries’ glitches and vote suppression show that voting will be very problematic in November. More disease means fewer polling places + more mailed ballots + fewer election judges + reluctant in-person voters + limited mass transit + more… Extending peak pandemic into November is seen by Trump as a win-win-win-win-win. So of course all his minions believe it, too. Not testing is a way to amplify the problem. Trump is just playing dumb and repeating a transparently dumb explanation, which is a lie. He wants it to get worse.

That explains the support for fighting COVID-19 winding down. Hasn’t zero-attention-span Trump always tended to take action on the agenda of whomever spoke to him last?
