Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some harsh words to say about some of the writing here and let Josh know. I still am put out regarding a badly interpreted, simply factually wrong story about McCain from back in 2007, lol. Worst is, they “fixed” it and it was still wrong!
The other day in an editorial Josh wrote
"I’d like to invite you to join Tierney Sneed and I tomorrow afternoon. . . "
I know and he, the professional journalist doesn’t, that it should be Sneed and me. It’s the small stuff that bugs me.
For me it’s to-too-two errors, and I made one yesterday.
You know what cured me to a large extent? Having a job that was trying to pick out content in student essays. Grammar and punctuation was tested separately. At one point I had to personally read and sign off on every single 8th grade standardized test essay in Texas that was failed for being too illegible due to errors.
Using and composing in English is probably the best way to learn how to use it correctly. As an administrative assistant in a previous life I had to learn how to compose and brevity was extremely important.
He was using department email to disseminate his personal views, which had nothing directly to do with department business. My guess is that he knew he was going to get fired, as most anyone likely would for doing what he was doing, other matters aside, and figured he’d go out full hog.
I fail on the brevity, for sure.
