Investigation Ongoing After Alleged ‘Attempted Lynching’

I will tell you that a lot of my fellow Bloomington residents are shocked. I’ll guess you don’t know Bloomington, but it is the home of IU and it is a liberal/left oasis.

Maybe they should be shocked but your snark isn’t helpful either.

Just like my alma mater, Penn State. A blue oasis in the middle of Pennsyltucky.

Step outside the municipalities making up the greater State College urbanized area and whammo, Trump 2020 rules.

Amirite Mattinpa?

Roberts grew up in Indiana. Never saw racism, for sure.

You know I watch all the Texas Law and Game Warden shows on Animal Planet and in most of the states those people have the power to arrest people, not just for illegal hunting or poaching, but for all kinds of crime. Shame on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources’ Law Enforcement Division. If they’re not going to keep the louts from louting then the good people of IN may not want to fund your operation.

They took statements and no arrests?!? What a goddamn joke. The authorities made sure no body white was injured and went on their merry fucking way.

I guess lots of racist scum have been keeping it in and now can’t hold it anymore? More are revealing themselves, because the reckoning has come and they know it. A lot of people are in danger now that the scab is coming off.

Hmm, what’s all this “alleged”? Does law enforcement have some hint that it didn’t happen, or it was staged? (I doubt it… I’m just wondering why they’re being so cagey.)

There’s a video, and it’s obvious that they’re confining the man and beating him. So why not make arrests?
Well, I guess after Arbery, where they had the video of a man being MURDERED and didn’t make an arrest and condoned it until someone finally released the video… we can know that law enforcement can have actual video and pretend nothing bad happened.
Bloomington, btw, is the university town, quite liberal, but surrounded by the Trumpiest of poor counties. Surrounded by meth and opioid centers, actually. The people who vote around there vote Trump.

“This is a moral emergency.”

America is a moral emergency at this point.

That’s common. In California, full time, permanent State lifeguards and park rangers are law enforcement officers, with the same training and authorities as the highway patrol. And yes, they’re armed.

This kind of racist shit was brought out into the open long before his inauguration, racists felt comfortable doing this kind of shit during his campaign. This happened in November of 2015:

Addicts from the surrounding rural areas come to Bloomington due to the high level of social services and programs available compared to their economically-depressed local communities. Surrounding rural counties then point to Bloomington as a hotbed of evil and addiction. It’s a bad cycle.

And then you have your standard-issue burly blue collar beer drunk lakeside party boys, thoroughly steeped in right wing/Confederacy/Fox propaganda and racism. Those would be the instigators in this incident.

Bloomington itself is still pretty cool, however. I’m hoping this all passes without additional violence, that justice is served, and that the community and surrounding areas achieve some sort of lasting improvement in equality.

This is all so appalling.

It’s like somebody has lanced a boil on the buttocks of the USA and the pus is just shooting out these days.

The only thing we can hope for is that, like lancing a boil, when all the putrid pus is out, the wound might heal. One can hope.

(Yes, I am an eternal optimist…)

The problem here was clearly that he did not keep his hands visible and at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions.
George Floyd would be alive today if he had a detachable steering wheel.

Honestly, right now, I’d be more worried about walking through a conservative area of America than living in my neighborhood, and I live in a place where there’s occasional gang violence and shootings. I’d probably want a firearm if I was walking somewhere like that, just because you never know when the white racists will feel the need to express their superiority over anyone else. And, I’m a white male…imagine how nervous someone who doesn’t look like me feels in those areas.

I was at the protest at the Bloomington Courthouse yesterday. I happened to stand next to the guy shot the video. He told me that he felt the perpetrators “had murder in their eyes” as they were trying to shoo away Cooper’s white friends.

The website for the damm company had a KKK guys in hoods pic and another white supremacist logo as late as yesterday. They’ve wiped their website since then; I just looked. Its a blank Wordpress site now.

As someone who has spent almost the last three decades in Bloomington, I can tell you that the county and surrounding areas have more than their fair share of racists. I am not shocked this happened. The city of Bloomington is an awesome town and dominates the political landscape of Monroe County, so I fully expect the prosecutors office to file charges. It would be shocking if they didn’t. We’re watching though.

I checked the wayback machine. That site has been under construction since at least 2017. Don’t be a Trump.
Here’s a link for proof

We don’t do that, they do.
