One of the most shameful episodes of Mexican history is the deportation of the Yaqui Indians from Sonora to forced labor in Yucatan, none made it back.
The Yaquis has a history of rebellion so the Mexican Federal Government ordered what amounted to their ethnic cleansing, and they put bounty on their heads. Of course army officers and state troopers caught all they could, but they also captured and sold natives from unrelated tribes like the Pimas, Papagos, Mayos and Seris, they even caught even recently arrived Chinese and Korean immigrants .
That is documented in a book from an American journalist. Back in the day when journalist did other things other than lick the balls of the rich and powerful.

My story was that I was on a project with a Connecticut firm that had its own issues, but the client decided it was a good idea to bring in a secondary firm to audit what we were doing. Not common unless the implementation partner is really screwing up.
All of us were individually interviewed by this third party and we were under orders to cooperate and be honest. I had my interview and then went to lunch.
On my way to lunch, one of my previous contract houses called me on my cell and asked how or who I knew at the third party company. When I asked why, I was told that they had contacted this contract house to see how I had performed on the project work I did for them.
I hit the ceiling. First, I hadn’t given them my resume and, second, I had not signed a release permitting them to contact past employers.
When I got back from lunch, my management team, including the managing partner, had the misfortune of being outside the building. I gave them holy hell about what I had just been told and let them know I had no intention of staying around to have my privacy violated.
They were shocked at what had happened.
I was gone from that project within two weeks. Not playing those games.

) Trump supporters discount all facts, moral reasoning and even self-interest – this sort of bullshit is the ONLY thing that moves them. And we need them to move.

Texas has been retrograde since it rebelled against Mexico because the later rejected chattle slavery.

After insisting we had to try Hooters at least once, back in '94, my wife then wanted to start a restaurant chain called “Peckers.” Her idea was men (e.g., all servers would be guys) would dress in a Woody Woodpecker type outfit, with the beak strategically placed. Plus better food.

Same here. I was with a couple of friends in Atlantic City, no less. We just popped in at happy hour for some wings and a pitcher of beer. The wings were quite average.

And, just as a reminder, the whole reason that government credit cards were introduced in the first place was to streamline purchasing and make it more efficient, so you don’t need to get approval, fill out a purchase req, etc. for the small stuff.
The $1 limit is the exact opposite of saving money.
It prevents, just as one example, wildland firefighting crews from buying fuel for their vehicles.

But don’t fall prey to the notion that Iranians are seeking other countries (esp. the US and Israel) to “liberate.” them. We’ve been to the Middle East, done that, and created bigger and bigger messes in the region.
Given that, IMO, the failed invasion of Iraq in order to “liberate” them was a major driver in the slide of the US into dictatorship, God knows what trying to knock over a country of 95 million inhabitants would bring in its wake.
Maybe the real Armaggedon that the religious nuts are pining for.
