Indiana Guv Vows to Help Trump Challenge His Own State's GOPers Who Rejected Gerrymander

Not this time, sadly.

But one day… one glorious golden happy day…

In the meantime, excellent opportunity to take out your frustrations working to support a satisfying blue wave. It will feel good. In between parent-sitting, of course. Been there.

This story (Trump pushing Indiana to redistrict Dems out of existence) encapsulates everything that is wrong with Trump. He’s always willing to cheat to stay in power (see Jan 6th). If cheating isn’t enough he will threaten those who don’t abide by his edicts (withholding funds, billion dollar lawsuits, military court martials). His modus operandi is to immediately jump to extortion if he can’t get his way. This disgusting creature should not even be allowed to be a dog catcher in the US, never mind president.

Are you still sure of that after what happened in Indiana and Miami?

If Halligan (or Habba the Nut) could have so easily gotten a rubber stamp Senate confirmation, he would not have appointed her on an interim basis in the first place.

The governor wants to veto the state Senators who didn’t send him the bill. We’ll know if he can convince the voters to do that next year.

Yep - the Senate is run by GQP nimrods. 2/3s of them don’t have to listen to the constituencies or to the blue wave that’s coming ashore, however big that might be. They’ll do whatever the First Felon tells them to do.

Miami is explainable with the Hispanic population finally recognizing what their FF support has gotten them: How many Hispanic Senators are there, again?

And Indiana didn’t cotton to the insults and the threats. How many Senators have been insulted and threatened, again?

No, they’ll stay in line to preserve their position and the related largesse.

I understood this (and someone will correct me, I’m sure) to be standard procedure. Where Blondi went wrong is that she never put the nomination before the Senate, figuring she would just go around them whether they wanted to confirm tweedledum and tweedledummer or not.

I remember in past administration that temporary assignments pending confirmation were not all that unusual.

I think you’re correct. The interim appointment process can allow a new administration to have someone in the job while the confirmation process is gearing up. Or it’s probably intended to be used in the event of a sudden resignation. The interim process was not designed, as trump and Blondi have been using it, to circumvent the Senate and the courts.

He’s just repaying the great favor Trump did for Indiana in 2016 by helping them to get rid of Mike Pence.

My home state is deep red, but proud of them for standing up to Trump and Braun. Now Mike Braun is targeting his fellow GOPers. Let them fight it out and maybe Dems will takeover some day or at least weaken the GOP stranglehold on the state. It gives me a little bit of hope.

With the trajectory that this bunch of morons…from State Houses to the White House…are on, by next year it is unlikely that any Republican who has not clearly repudiated this shambles of a Party will get a single vote.

Re; Senator Kelly - Can anyone in the Navy decline a directive by Hegseth without getting instantly fired and retired? People keep saying “the brass won’t let that happen”, but I think the SCOTUS killed that type of resistance with the Chevron ruling in June. The partisan hacks completely run the show now, so it may not be dead just yet.

Time will tell.

If worse comes to worst and Senator Kelly is recalled to face court martial, it is unlikely to be a long trial. The regulations are quite clear, and the six merely reminded soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen what the rules are. If that amounts to conduct detrimental to the good order of the military it can only be because the civilians in charge are issuing illegal orders.
