In the wake of a devastating earthquake, Haitian survivors and rescue workers do have one thing on their side: technology.Haitians are taking to Twitter, YouTube, blogs, and data collection websites to give eye witness accounts of the tragedy, organize, search for loved ones, report casualties, and upload amateur photos and videos of the devastation. Akin to what we saw in Iran over the summer, this event has again allowed Twitter to display its info-sharing merits. A flood of reliable information and compelling photos are being tweeted by survivors who are also using the site to report personal family death tolls and search for loved ones.
