In Poor Bronx Neighborhoods, 34% Tested Had COVID-19 Antibodies, Gov Says | Talking Points Memo

Neither. A third of the population has the antibodies – which means that they have been exposed, but some of them may never have even been symptomatic.

Believe me I hope for that too and usually I’m not pessimistic about things. My husband is convinced that a vaccine will become available sooner rather than later. I certainly hope so.

And I totally agree who should get vaccinated first - the people who have been dying in the greatest numbers which are POC. I want to see Native Americans get vaccinated STAT, too. We cannot afford to lose our Native Americans and we are.

Makes me think the ACLU’s opposition to immunity passports may be misplaced. If we give out free antibody tests to anyone who wants them and then let those who are positive out of isolation, we could at least give something back to the people who have suffered so much to keep society functioning.

When I say get it done by Fall or Winter, I mean the science end. The manufacturing end, I don’t know. I’m hoping within a year after that. There will be rights and patent issues and as the article in the Times points out, ramping up of syringes and wipes and bandaids but I do think those can be worked out. It was done for the polio vaccine. Are we capable of less now?

Supposedly the Trumpsters are planning to create manufacturing capacity in tandem with the scientific research. I can only hope Trump personally has nothing to do with design or implementation. And that someone else is figuring out who to appoint to be in charge.

Agree also that the Native American population should go straight to the top too. And it makes sense for those states in general as well.

Yes it was. And tuberculosis and measles.

And yes I hope Trump has nothing to do with it and it’s likely going to work out mostly that way since the timing is going to be such that I think President Biden will be in office when the time comes to vaccinate the country.

I’m surprised it is not higher. I have not gone anywhere and have not been closer than six feet to anyone. Other than nightly to take meds to care homes. Again not closer than six feet to anyone. Still last Friday doctor said I had a mild case. No fever, no cough, nothing that stops me from doing a damn thing. Just a very sore chest, Dr tested and sure enough I got it. Only thing I can imagine a package or something had become infected and boom… So crowded conditions, poor health care, etc etc and I would expect higher rates. Can’t wait for the freedumb people to start reporting. Yellowstone reports, for example, will be interesting as those assholes came from all over and are spreading like locust.

There’s this from the SF Chronicle. Latinos are not being affected in the same high numbers. “0.4% with with 914 cases and 4 case to ratio deaths.”

Asian Americans are more seriously infected than others and no one knows why.

Notable exceptions are gout, tennis elbow and complications of plastic surgery.

God that’s scary - take care of yourself. I’m glad your doctor is on it.

Depends on what you want to call plastic surgery. We had some people here operating illegal clinics injecting all kinds of shit into women’s asses so they could have badonkadonks. They ended up with terrible messes.

Fox was playing this story up the other day, like they played up the Texas hair salon operator violating the law
of staying closed.Lets see what they do with this one.

The Governor is playing hardball.

Yipes, just keep it mild. We know most cases are mild and that’s good, obviously. But it’s damned infectious, we know that much, and the mitigation helps your odds but it’s no guarantee like celibacy would be for an STD. I mean, look at the nursing homes, they’re obviously going to be as careful as they can be but it’s just at disastrous levels in most places. Again, take care of yourself and make a point of posting regularly so we don’t get scared about you.

Haha I think we have some gout stereotypes going on here. If drinking port gave you gout I would have gout of the everything.

We still don’t know if you are immune with antibodies. We think so, we hope so, but people are being reinfected, after clearing two negative tests. There is so much about this we do not know.

Please take care of yourself. Been thinking of you since you talked about driving meds to care facilities. I hope it stays mild and you don’t have any complications from it later!

You may be living proof that the six foot rule is insufficient. Glad you’re doing okay. Take good care.
