We agree on one thing: Google needs to be broken up.

We don’t agree at all on why, though: anti-trust. Google controls too damn many things. Same with Facebook.

I thought breaking up large companies is something only Liberals want to do. I thought such an idea was completely against all conservative principles and was anathema to their ideals. Conservatives are only conservative when it suits them, and can be more liberal than Liberals when it doesn’t.

Gitmo Ron probably wants Google execs to be waterboarded too.

So “conservatives” want to interfere with and dictate to tech businesses.

Got it.

Apropos of nothing, all I ever see for these social media links is a huge empty box, with maybe a headline. I can view the image by opening it in a separate window, which I basically never care to do.

Does anybody else have the “empty box” effect, and does anyone know how to deal with it?

DeSantis is right on the idea, but wrong on the reasons. His reasoning exposes his authoritarian instincts.

If they were actively censoring everything that contradicted the MAGA line, believe me Desantis would not be saying this…

These things are only demanded when the entity in question isn’t in lockstep with their desires. They want to control all the media outlets to further their thirst for power.

It comes and goes, and I do not know why or how to fix it. The joke is the old “Worst person you know makes a good point” meme.

But on the other hand, Google clearly needs to be broken up. Let’s work across the aisle to accomplish this important goal.

Yeah, I see a lot of that, especially when someone tries to cite instagrunt. I deal with it via the pagedown key.

Matt Stoller, an antitrust expert who works at the American Economic Liberties Project, said it’s hard to tell if DeSantis’ private comments indicate genuine concern about corporate concentration of power or just anger at large firms perceived to be hostile to conservatives.

No, it’s not hard.

If Google had gone full Elon re:Twitter, DeSantis would be praising Google as a pillar of American society.

DeSantis has given us little to no indication that he’s truly concerned about corporate concentration of power and every indication that his motivations stem from stopping companies or institutions that could get in the way of his ambitions and rise to power.

Let’s not assign false rationales to a man who makes his motivations abundantly clear.

Aren’t all of the major internet platforms as guilty? MS, along with Google?

I’m beginning to think that DeathSantis is another whiny-ass titty baby. We already had one of those in the White House; do we really need another?

“I think they’re exercising a more negative influence on our society than the trusts that got broken up at the early 20th century.” When a right-wing nationalist starts sounding like a left-winger on government controlling business, watch out. You’ve got a full-blown fascist. Not like we didn’t know.

Nope

Broken up how?

Ain’t it the truth! Sometimes I like to mess with current orthodoxy by observing that Adolph Hitler was a vegetarian.
