Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) — the Republican nominee for President Obama’s old Senate seat — acknowledged over the weekend that an earlier claim about his military record wasn’t entirely accurate.As the Washington Post first reported, Kirk had claimed in the biography on his website that he’d received the Navy’s Intelligence Officer of the Year award. The honor was actually given to Kirk’s unit — not to him individually.
