All Eyes On Indiana Republican members of Indiana’s state Senate are expected to take a vote as soon as tomorrow that could mark the conclusion of a months-long drive by the Trump administration, and many of Trump’s closest allies, to force state legislators to draw Democrats out of representation for Indiana in the U.S. House.…
If Indiana was smart they would take a step back and read the room, following Trump’s wishes is no longer a smart move.
Tourists’ Social Media Will Now, Apparently, Be Monitored
Crossing international borders, it is best to take a clean phone (minimum) and/or laptop. If they demand your social media accounts, tell them you do not use social media. If they ask for email, give them a clean one.
Not just Indiana ! Trump is totally off the rails now and it’s there for all to see. He’s already down to that 37% cult MAGA base and anyone hoping to stay in office should be able to see that
Wouldn’t it be funny if Indiana, Texas and any other red state changes their maps and the democrats still get in office.
Besides - are there enough republicans anymore to fill those slots?
In other news: from AP:
President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. has seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela amid mounting tensions with the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
snip…
The seizure was led by the U.S. Coast Guard and supported by the Navy, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Question: What is the US Coast Guard doing near the Venezuela coastal waters? Isn’t that way too far away from our coastal waters?
In theory, if a wave election is big enough, gerrymandering actually hurts the losing party. This is because Jerry Mandarin (sic) inherently works by taking districts where your party has a sizable majority, and breaking up that sizable majority into districts where they don’t, reducing the size of the majority in all districts, but increasing the number of seats. Obviously, our friend Jerry gets in trouble then when a wave election goes against him.
It certainly sounds like an act of war. We would consider that if someone else did that to one of our ships.
So….what will Trump say IF the EU decides to put all of Putin’s shadow fleet of illegal oil tankers on the bottom of the Baltic Sea or the Atlantic Ocean ? if it is fair to seize a Venezuelan tanker with zero sanctions, it certainly should be fair to sink Putin’s sanctioned or shadow (e.g. sanction-busting) fleet that is sailing to generate the war $$ to kill Ukrainian civilians - right ? I don’t get it.
We’re at what 9 years of the GOP being all-in on deeply stupid. It’s muscle memory at this point. They’ll have to make an effort to realize they’re picking the wrong horse.
Re: Re-redistricting:
If it’s “too late” to undo the Texas racial gerrymander, because the election is too close, then any further redistricting done by Blue states subsequent will certainly be nixed by the (hardly deserving of the name) Supreme Court when they inevitably are brought to trial there.
Will Democratic redistricting efforts serve any purpose, then? Will they put fear into Republican politicians “hearts”? Or display Democratic fecklessness? Or – let it be true – actually be allowed?
Amen, bro. I don’t know what kind of play the First Felon’s recent crude hate-filled rants have been getting in the regular media, but anyone who has heard him should feel shock and revulsion that a President of the United States would ever talk that way in public. While being recorded. He’s lost any ability to maintain the veneer of civilization. Out of control, out of his mind.
The rats of the Indiana legislature need to grab what life preservers they can find and bail.
According to the Coast Guard’s website, the boundary line is between 12 and 15 nautical miles, depending on the location. I am a bit rusty on ready nautical charts, but I am sure Venezuela is a bit farther than that.
Marjorie Taylor Greene (feud with Trump), Nancy Mace (https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/08/opinion/nancy-mace-congress-republicans.html), and Anna Paulina Luna (trying to get discharge petition to stop Congress members from trading in stocks) have all done things recently that are not crazy and actually are pretty good. I was thinking that if Laurent Boebert did something similar we would be in the End Times with the Four Horsewomen of the Apocalypse. Thankfully, she remains corrupt, thus saving us all.
Re: Seizing Oil Tanker
We’ve gone from murder to piracy.
I live eight miles from Indiana. Worked in local government there for nine years.
Ain’t gonna happen.
In my opinion, Dems need ACTION, not reaction. The only way to get Republican’ts ever to pass uniform national (as opposed to 50-state-by-state who-knows-what-you’ll-get) anti-gerrymandering, fair redistricting (e.g., via nationwide independent state commissions), will be to show Republican’ts that they can get burned—WORSE—without them.
…if it comes to it.

I went to school for a few years at Indiana University in Bloomington. Lots of smart folks there
, and amazingly a good football team at the moment.
I think I spot the problem right there.
I live in the Hoosier state, and I don’t know anyone who likes this nonsense. I know Trump supporters who wish he would just let it the hell go. People don’t like to admit they are wrong, but I am getting the feeling that there are Trump supporters coming to the realization that Donald Trump is actually insane. And taking that oil tanker won’t help his cause either.
I think those Republicans might balk at giving him what he wants because they don’t like getting the Pence treatment. And long before they were Trump Republicans, they were Pence Republicans. Threatening people can backfire.
We shall see.
