Sometimes that is true … sometime that is total horsecrap …
It depends on the situation, the accusation, the balance of power … the peril one might face if a protracted defense was waged … public opinion is a strange and powerful thing … and sometimes if it is descending like an avalanche - and martyrdom is almost a certainty - innocent people make critical assessments and get out of the way -
IN THIS COUNTRY we regularly see People accept plea bargains in cases where they feel they are entirely innocent - but know that they have no way to disprove the prosecution’s evidence - or even worse no way to disprove falsified evidence & lying eyewitnesses & the punishment if the fought & lost would be a life term.
We also have seen people chose not to battle against a particular false accusation - because they judge that the cost to their greater cause - or to their family - or friends might be too tragic.
No, I don’t. You’re just going by the biased media portrayal. Remember the 1990s? They were all on the “Hate the Clintons!!” train, even the (so-called) “Librul New York Times.”
I hear you. Hell, I feel you, but I swear, in spite of how it feels, becoming as reality denying as the Republicans is not really where we ever want to find ourselves.
It was probably just about 100 years ago that Will Rogers noted he was not a member of any organized political party; he was a Democrat. This is our party… the majority, but forever in “disarray.”
The Dakota is not what I would call nearby Times Square.
But relatively speaking I guess, it is nearby… on Manhattan…on the West Side…depending how fast your retired cop limo driver could get away driving…
I’ve read that. You either believe women, or you don’t (the majority of whom are Democrats here), and I do.
It was just a very poor time to be a grabber/groper in the Senate, and by his actions, Franken had no stomach to expose his behavior under discovery to an even larger audience. For all we know his wife offered him an ultimatum to quit, or she’d end their marriage, we don’t know. In any case he refused to allow the very investigation he welcomed to occur.
There really isn’t a strong mechanism to force a Senator out of his job, certainly not by the denunciation of a single other Senator. Maybe Franken had groped Gillbrand? We don’t know, Al stopped the investigation by abruptly quitting!
My late dad was not a groper of women and sure enough, he was never accused of such things.
I financially supported Franken in both of his Senate campaigns, not a lot, just $50-$100, but I believed in his message.
There were at the time Franken resigned EIGHT credible accusers, were you not following the story?
Yes, the guilty defend themselves as well, yet Franken did not! I’m not sure what point you’re attempting to make here. Do you dox women who accuse men of inappropriate sexual actions by attacking their character all the time, or just here?
According to you all eight women (and who knows how many more) are liars. I’d at least have demanded they let me clear my good name.
