Good to see JD"s dirty hands involved in this but really no surprise.
Confession is good for the soul:
I came in here to post that confession and to note that this is an exceptionally high level of comprehension for a Trump appointee. It’s damned shame that the comprehension wasn’t accompanied by a similar level of self-reflection.
prosecutors purposefully and consciously targeting them for selective and vindictive prosecution for exercising those rights.
If you want government targeting you for prosecution because you disagree with it, then vote Republican. They’ll eventually get around to you.
I’m always suspicious of people who use the word “pusillanimously.”
The defendants certainly were not timid.
Putting the sloppy partisan hack Boutros in charge of the Trump regime’s harassment and bullying of E. Jean Carroll (who was raped by Trump) is quite the self own.
It would be nice, and possibly illuminating to DoJ lawyers (not political appointees who don’t do well in the light), if their bad faith and misconduct resulted in palpable consequences.
I do think we’re likely to see some professional consequences for some of these people. trump can’t pardon anyone out of those consequences either.
Sheri Mecklenburg, the original prosecutor on the matter, left the case for a detail to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
So which Rethugliklan Senator is the good former prosecutor who committed all the prosecutorial misconduct now working?
She went to work for Dick Durbin, who fired her the day after the story of her misconduct came out.

In the case of the rapidly decaying DOJ, the only regularity that should be expected is that they’re operating in bad faith.
