I’m a U of Dayton grad. A couple years ago I found out about a skirmish between UD students, it’s a Catholic school, and the Klan in the early twenties. People from the surrounding neighborhood joined the students to kick some ass and chase the assholes away. Very little help from the Dayton police.
I wonder why.

Bashing foreigners will always appeal to a subset of humanity that would rather nurse its grudges than expand its horizons. I’m glad that targeting Haitians in Ohio is motivating the large Haitian-American population in Florida to get organized to vote–maybe ETTD’s next victim will be Rick Scott’s senatorial career.

Vance also wants to keep it in a state of turmoil. As a senator for that state, he must know that the Haitians are not undocumented–they’ve got legal status. But he just doesn’t care. It’s all about stirring up as much trouble as possible.

Trump’s movement is filled with violent extremists and radicals. They have a demonstrated willingness and eagerness to commit acts of violence against their perceived partisan enemies (mostly Democrats, but also any obstacles to Trump’s will). “Stand back and stand by.” Trump is not simply incautious in his remarks about this fact. He actually mobilizes that propensity for violence as a political tool. It’s already distorting and degenerating American civic life. And he’s not even back in power yet. Josh Marshall.
Did you ever think you would live in a country where one political party would incite violence to win an election or where voting would be an act of genuine courage.

I admit, I’ve been laughing a lot of the memes. Even here, this morning, in comments to the Morning Memo. But no longer. Bomb threats, people afraid to leave home or let their kids go to school–I can’t find it funny anymore. This time, mocking these weirdos for their crazy talk isn’t shutting them down. It seems to be encouraging them.
Someone, most likely an immigrant, is likely to get hurt. Also after that stupid Christopher Rufo offered money for proof of Haitians eating pets, animals are likely to get hurt.
