I eat meat! No meat shame from me. You got the biggest thing I was going for here. I also needed this bit to introduce how they were talking about their own diverse backgrounds and appreciation for foreign travel/food, which was really striking given the circumstances.

All that being said, I also thought it was revealing that the ICE agent couldn’t even conceptualize why someone wouldn’t eat living things. I eat meat but I think most of us who do can acknowledge the ethical arguments against it.

Exactly. The Spanish and Portuguese some how have been demoted from being European.
And don’t get me started on how many places, states, rivers, or lakes have Native American names. How does that sit well with White Power folks?
