The committee should have let Katie handle all the questions. Anything else is a waste of time.
How many machines and and what cost to the taxpayer? And where were the machines… which states and communities and why? No state deserves to be harassed because they are blue and didn’t vote for Trump, but that’s what it looks like. So much for watching out for the taxpayer and childish “payback.”
Dems have to subpoena post office managers from around the country, especially those in battleground states. No recess.
May I add that as I stated last week I was glad that DeJoy was to go to the Senate first and the House second. And by his answers/non-answers he couldn’t even be bother to bone up on policy, procedures, and at least have the info ready to show that he didn’t call for the machines to be taken out of service, or mailboxes being removed. A true competent Republican would have the necessary info to cover his ass while deflecting blame on other people.
So class what we learned is that DeJoy is a true Trumper, lazy, condescending, and most of all INCOMPETENT!
Longer video of Katie Porter’s questioning time with Mr. NO-Joy, where
- He denied knowing who ordered the major overhaul plans in USPS
- He does not know who ordered those changes
- He will NOT commit to reversing those changes
Earlier today,
DeJOY: “Ok. Get me the billion and I’ll put the machines in.”
KHANNA: “OK well that’s a commitment. We’ll find a way to get you the money.”
Me: Do your job lawfully and in good faith and maybe no jail time for you!
Well at least the other Dems should have ceded their time to her, but let the Republicans look like the assholes they are.
I watched this hearing from the beginning. My takeaway is this:
- Businessmen don’t liked to be questioned, about either motives or methods.
- It’s incompetent to initiate changes to a huge organization without serious study of the unintended consequences that follow your actions.
- The idea that your huge bank account means that you are smart is ridiculous.
- AOC is awesome.
- Rep. Pressley is awesome.
- Katie Porter is awesome.
- Republicans don’t like being questioned by women.
- The governing board of the USPC is totally partisan, and the chairman has a really bad toupee’.
- Again, rich doesn’t make you smart.
- Many congressmen are useless hacks.
Or were they like men everywhere, and were just going through the motions? ![]()
Bazinga! No they do not. The problem is they always think they do.
It’s astonishing, isn’t it? I can’t believe that an institution, such as the USPS, that so many rely on can literally be sabotaged by a single individual and there’s nothing that our representatives can do except bring him in for questioning? There are some serious flaws in the amount of power a president has that these actions can basically go unchallenged.
I guess I’m a bit naive. I had no idea that our system is so vulnerable. We need some serious reforms. This 'Unitary Executive" is very dangerous.
Keep in mind that without the Senate and DoJ enablers, none of this could happen - “one man” did not break the post office.
He was prepared for hostile questions. He wasn’t prepared for basic ones that would indicate whether he was there to legitimately do the job or not. He’s not there to run it. She showed that. He’s there to “bust it out,” to dismantle it mob style.
What I’m keeping in mind is that USPS had been sabotaged and seriously damaged and there’s nothing no one seems to be able to do about it. I’m aghast.
Another thing that seems to be true, in my experience: Business leaders are only ever in it for themselves. They don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone else.
Well, mostly…
Why hasn’t anyone asked WHY they were removed in the first place?
No one has asked him to explain the reason why the sorting machines were removed. What business sense did it make?
Except no one asked him why he took the machines out in the first place. He should have been forced to give a rationale.
Thanks for posting the article. I think I only recently noticed “employee-owned company” on a package of oatmeal. It’s an incentive to keep buying their products.
I haven’t seen any indication that the House followed up and questioned his ridiculous “the trucks leave on time” chart, or the cutbacks to overtime. I know the sorting machines are an issue, but there are a lot more moving parts that he has damaged.
