House Seeks Testimony From Top Mulvaney Adviser

Should they choose, members of Congress can arrest anyone for failing to comply with a congressional subpoena.

The courts have granted both the House and Senate “authority to enforce their orders by imprisoning those who violate them” and order the sergeant-at-arms to take violators into custody. It can also fine them — daily.

The House just has to use the authorities they possess.

Hmm … maybe it is “fantasy crap.” But it’s been done before. And it’s well past time they do it again. It’s time they quit pussyfooting around and play hardball with these criminals.

Why? At this point they have Trump dead to rights. Beyond here the only reason to continue investigating is to give people a chance to jump off the Trump bandwagon. Subpoena all the rest and if any one of them refuses to show up just take the refusal as an admission against interest and move on. I bet one of the 2nd level principals – Pence, Mulvaney, Pompeo or Perry – sings. They won’t have any choice if they want to have any sort of future in the new Republican Party. If I were Schiff or Pelosi I wouldn’t let them weasel out. They would just go down with Trump.

I should have been more specific…“House votes this coming Thursday” = Vote On The Process For Impeachment

The only way they could have taken out all of the bad stuff would have been to release something like this:

Trump: Good morning. How ya doin’?
Zelensky: Fine, thanks. And you?
Trump: Doin’ great. Let’s get down to business, I gotta hit the links soon…
Trump: Great talkin’ with ya. Have a good day.
Zelensky: Same to you, Mr. Trump. Goodbye.

You haven’t been paying attention. That might have worked in 1974 but it won’t work in 2019.

Ever since that transcript came out, I have marveled at the fact that anyone, much less a significant number of people, thought that thing would exonerate Trump in any way. How out of touch with reality do you have to be? It is like a bank robber looking at a video of his crime and telling the jury “There is no way you can see my face clearly in that video!”

Yes. And bring in a few authentic shamans to counteract the effects of the grifting Xtian charlatans.

So, word is that Dems don’t intend to fight subpoena refusals in court because it would take too much time and they’ve got enough testimony and evidence as it it.

But, if so, why do they keep requesting and subpoenaing more witnesses if they supposedly have more than enough already? Clearly they don’t think they have enough–or are these just insurance?

Could it be that Dems fear that the courts will actually side with Trump on these subpoenas, which would rob impeachment of some of its credibility in the public’s view, and if so how valid is such a fear?

Or is there some other reason? Why not pursue ALL avenues, including the legal one? They don’t preclude each other and it’s not like Dems don’t have good lawyers.

Well, then, the GOP is right about the illegitimacy of the process. How can the House legally conduct an impeachment investigation if they haven’t already voted to impeach???

Hah. 3%. 300. Q. 88.
