until this point, no one filed a primary challenge against them. Van Drew is 1st term (and would be especially vulnerable), but Peterson has been a fixture (apt description?) in Congress since 1991.
House Passes Impeachment Procedures Measure, Setting Stage For Public Hearings | Talking Points Memo
Who, what, where, when, why? A little substance, por favor?
Contradiction doesnât necessarily undo anythingâŚand it may be what he was sent to do.
The Sequel to âOne Hundred Men and a Girlâ
âForty-eight Other White Dudes and Liz Cheney.â
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EIOEuPFWoAEsHOP?format=jpg&name=largeThe key difference, of course, is that the historical examples for Clinton were Republicans, and these are now Democrats. As we all know, that changes everything.
I think that the House should pass articles pursuant to Ukraine, but not send them to the Senate â then subpoena people like Mulvaney, Pompeo, etc, and when they donât show up, take them to court. And part of the argument should be that their testimony is needed before a Senate trial to ensure that Trump has full âdue processâ rights, and isnât suprised by their testimony at trial!
Great! I am happy for anyone who cares to see the actual differences in the way the parties conduct themselves.
For example, he has offered his opinion that the WH did nothing illegal.
He has also declined to answer a number of questions, on advice of counsel.
But as noted:
Not clear yet how big (or small) a deal this
Just noting that Republicans are already spinning, thatâs all. (Shocker.)
The problem with referencing how history will see them for defending Trump: they are still convinced that THEY will be the âwinnersâ writing that history via their electoral process rigging and shenanigans.
As I keep saying, this is END GAME for them. They are going to go all out in 2020 and beyond trying to rig the elections, change the elections laws, change redistricting standards, etc. etc. etc., and it WILL NOT STOP until they have secured their goal of a permanent minority-rules white Christian hegemony via âmanaged democracyâ. I cannot stress this enough: IT. WILL. NOT. STOP.
I happened to see that when the group was on teevee. I laughed at all the white, male faces and one Liz Cheney.
I mean itâs really quite âsomething.â
Is he even a lawyer?
Thatâs not contradiction. Itâs cowardice. Itâs also inconvenient, but heâs going to end up taking the 5th publicly if he plays that game too long.
Is it ok if I say âlock you upâ and give you a âFifth Avenueâ candy bar? Please donât shoot me.
Then we can not stop either.
Itâs not the destination, but the journey. Iâm going to savor every moment of the process. Ok, itâs the destination too.
@leftcoaster I remember Bill Clinton, in similar circumstances, walked off the Impeachment process from governing the nation. While the Republicans has no real basis on which to impeach, I believe the fact he kept working for the American people helped his cause. Contrast that to Trump, whose narcissism and sense of grievance wonât allow him to function. We basically have no President at present, which is probably a better situation than having Trump actively involved.
Yes.
Not a very good one then.
that is not quite accurate, according to the Post account.âŚ
Morrison, who told colleagues Wednesday that he plans to leave the Trump administration, said he did not necessarily view the presidentâs demands as improper or illegal, but rather problematic for U.S. policy in supporting an ally in the region.
this sounds like massive equivocation on Morrisonâs part â heâs knows it was illegal, but refrained from making a âlegalâ judgment in favor of viewing it within the context of US policy alone.
Yep. He wants that lobbyist job on K Street so bad he can taste it.

And, of course, when they complain about it dragging out into the election year, remind them that the process would have moved a lot faster if they had cooperated.
Farkas mentioned on Lawrence that he could be trouble.
I believe he is âlawyerlyâ in the sense that some people look to lawyers for their escape potentials.
