So the spouse and children of a serving member of Congress doesnât deserve protection? House members usually do actually has a residency in their district, unlike senators. I know that mine have an instate residency in name only.
Theyâre private citizens. Surely the security provided by our community policing and other measures is sufficient.
If it wasnât sufficient, Congress would of course appropriate enough funds to ensure that all private citizens are safe.

Frankly, a lot of shit that we deal with in everyday life-- from TSA lines at the airport to good luck getting an IRS agent on the line let alone any other government agency-- is because members of congress and their fellow rich folks donât have to deal with the little people lines.
Iâm a firm believer that congressmembers should suffer with the same systems-- from security on down-- that they inflict on us or donât give us at all.
