Please feel free to do so. You’ll serve this Nation well and will always be remembered for your selfless sacrifice…
Someone please tell me what that FL sheriff is doing is illegal and he is going to be charged by someone. The county is 450000 people, and he is running his own secret police.
You have watched too many reruns of North by Northwest!
More like a grade-A deflection.
Of course, Toomey couldn’t begin to enumerate what policies would create all this damage. 2022 will pretty much set the GQP straight. Virus is down, employment is up, economy is surging - and don’t forget the daily reminders from T**** that the market has ‘never been better’ and now it is so much better, since that matters to the GQP - and our standing in the world has improved.
I don’t know what the hell the GQP will run on that won’t be completely fabricated next year.
Excellent!
Yeah, but don’t forget - a good 40% of their supporters don’t view the insurrection as a crime. This works well with their base, the bashing. It just confirms what the minions are assured of - the insurrection was just a bunch of tourists infiltrated by the DOJ and the FBI to make the tourists look bad. All the 500+ arrestees are pawns in this game and aren’t even registered GQP’ers.
No, the optics for the people the GQP are trying to reach are quite good and the message is resonating nicely. The ensuing discrediting of the evidence in the hearings will further allow the GQP to dig in their heels about all the fabrications. You know, paid participants by Soros and all that nonsense.
This isn’t over by a long shot.
Only when it involves them and their participants/message.
The Republican verbiage will only get more hyperbolic over the next set of months in the hope that they can scare Democrats into backing down. It’s worked in the past, and that is about all they can do for the next year or so. Call it out, keep on message, and make sure that the investigation stays on target. If anyone, independent of political party, was involved in aiding and helping the insurrectionists, then they need to be held accountable both in the courts of the United States (if appropriate) as well as, if not more importantly, in the court of public opinion. What happened is too serious an event to whitewash. Again, if McCarthy is called to testify towards the end of the hearings (first, present the facts and reasons through other witnesses of any involvement and justify his being called to testify under oath (and my guess he will decline and be forced to do so)), Republican words will reach their crescendo of implied threats, so expect it and remain on target. This hearing is for the public, so the Committee needs to be prepared and on top of everything.
‘Freedom Caucus’…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…what a bunch of hypocritical frauds. ‘Keep spreading the lie or have your assignments revoked!’
It may also be a great opportunity for the writers and readers of TPM to contribute to the publishing of a “live” listing of state-by-state efforts to support or curtail voting rights in this country. TPM was outstanding during the Attorney General firings during the George W Bush administration in 2006, and that type of coverage is necessary.
Voting restriction efforts is the one area that still gives me great concern. Covid-19 fatalities and its short-term effects on our economy and life is a close second, but that involves personal choices for the moment. Voting issues, machines, and fraud created in advance of the midterm elections by Republican-controlled states must be highlighted on a regular basis.
Well, since that’s been their strategy since Lee Atwater (and to be really honest, Joe McCarthy), I don’t see them changing things any time soon.
“Supporting Pelosi’s unprecedented move to reject McCarthy’s picks was a bridge too far.”
Many of us think supporting a violent insurrection was a bridge too far.
That 30 percent has been a anchor on this country for so long.
I have to believe when your life is winding down and your death is just around the corner, looking back and taking note you were ostracized and rejected by the current GOP would have to be viewed as one of your high points.
? Throw me a bone here, please.
I just want to point out that this is why gotcha questions don’t work. Every single one of these people without exception knows how to slip out of them. It’s like the first move you learn in wrestling. You simply ignore the question entirely and suggest that something you’d prefer to talk about is the thing you really ought to be talking about. It’s often framed as what your constituents or “the American people” would prefer to have addressed. It’s relatively crude but in an electronic medium you can put a gun to the interviewee’s head if you want because there’s no other way that question gets answered. You won’t get them dumbfounded and stammering with literally any combination of words you ask. It just won’t happen.
I hope members of the committee are listening:
Questions the January 6 Select Committee Should Ask Its Witnesses (justsecurity.org)
And the GQP is still hanging on to this oft-repeated myth:
Somehow, I think he’s watching clips of his former patient from last year - I haven’t seen anything that puts Biden in these categories. Wishful thinking.
Toomey is a coward through and through. He’s smart enough to know exactly what trump and his minions are doing. That makes him either complicit or a complete coward - or both.
