Lawrence O’Donnell (together with Eugene Robinson) very wisely linked this faux-pas of Trump’s COVID presser with Roger Stone’s sentence “commutation”.
Before people like O’Donnell did that, many had not thought of that angle, thinking only that the favorable Maxwell comment was in poor taste, instead of a prelude to a pardon, as well as a telegraph of intent.
Trump pardons criminals.

By the way, every time an article or a reporter tries to create a false equivalence narrative, just remember that Trump is the only one who called Epstein a “terrific guy,” Trump is the only one who publicly commented long ago, when he was socializing with him, that he knew Epstein liked really young girls, and Trump is the one who was very good friends with Epstein, according to Epstein’s own brother.

“Epstein’d” is the verb you’re looking for.
As in, “Epstein was found Epstein’d in his cell. Killary swears she was not present for the Epsteining of Epstein, and most certainly did not remove any garrots or other materials from the cell after he was Epstein’d.”

A dark past can be a criminal one, or just one that contains trauma, immense challenges, disease, loss or other difficult situations. It can include murky acts that fall between legal and illegal things, as well as immoral or amoral actions. Mostly a dark past is something a person does not shout about.
