As they say down south, god bless Marjorie Taylor Greene:
She truly is the gift that keeps on giving. The better she does among her inbred white trash voters due to her truly epic insanity and idiocy, the worse the GOP does elsewhere. Between her, Boebert, Gaetz, DeSantis and of course Trump, as well as Dodds and all these endless shootings, Dems are going to run the table in 2024.
ETA: Elmo is on a winning streak. Twitter is crashing and burning (figuratively); Tesla’s stock price is crashing and burning (figuratively) ; and SpaceX is crashing and burning (literally).
I disagree. The situation you cite is not comparable. It’s more like all the times they’ve shut down the government and claimed it was the Dem’s fault. The Repukes got the blame no matter how much they tried to say otherwise. The words ransom and blackmail need repeated again and again. If they crash the economy, they won’t be back in power for a long time. I hope Biden stands firm with his “I don’t negotiate with terrorists” and they fold.
And there you have it — the dream Republican proposal. Devoid of any concessions it would have to make to make it palatable to anyone outside of the House caucus — since that’s not what it’s for — it’s simply a checklist of Republican desires, a peek into the soul of the party. And what an illuminating peek it is.
You have blinders on and think the average voter is as rational and aware of current events as you are. All average voter sees is bare shelves and high prices and poor job prospects, and doesn’t care that it was a GOP House that caused it. They don’t get to vote against the freedom caucus, but they sure can vote against the man nominally in charge, the president.
Hey, Squeaker McCardboard, we’ll be happy to discuss these ridiculous demands after we pay off our debts! The gross stupidity of the GQP pretending that it’s OK to gamble with the nation’s credit rating and at the same time ignore the citizens of this country being gunned down by crazy people is truly astounding.
I don’t think President Biden should say anything until The House gets a bill passed for the Senate to chew on. Just let Kev bask in his stupidity in the meantime. Corporate America appreciates a free ride, but not to hell. The GOP can use chaos to their advantage. Business owners OTOH, need a certain amount of stability to plan their future.
A healthy, sustained dose of “It is the Constitutional responsibility of the Congress to fulfill it’s obligations to pay the nation’s debts. They can fulfill that obligation, and end this crisis. Today.”
The only reason the GOP feels comfortable putting forth this absurdly perverse proposal is that they have a friendly media empire whose only purpose is to make clownish terrorists look like competent statesmen.
