The House committees leading the impeachment inquiry announced Friday that they had issued subpoenas of three more Trump administration officials.
At this stage of the game, here is where ânoâ means more than just ânoâ.
It means trouble.
Good to see the Dâs do this. Hopefully they push the point quickly, and go in to compel attendance. These witnesses (Russell Vought acting head of OMB) have already refused to testify, so the sooner their is compelled the testimony the better.
Dâs need a âtest caseâ and the acting-head of OMB who placed the hold on the Ukrainian defense $$$s clearly has relevant information, so makes a good test case. Plus this guy is Mulveneyâs henchman, so makes a good target. This is especially the case with Russell Vought who is a young right wing Christian Nut. No way that he has the $$$$ to fight a legal battle with the House. Also not a very sympathetic character.
Subpoena, fact find, impeach.
If theyâre Trumpâs political appointees, I doubt they show up.
Itâs really binary at this point. Either youâre a patriot and youâre loyal to America or youâre not. Instead, youâre loyal to a thuggish President. And the dividing line is whether you choose to honor a Congressional subpoena.
Brechbuhl will be asked what convos he had with Pompeo as events unfolded in real time. Weâll learn more if there is evidence that Pompeo was more than just an âacquiescerâ or whether he transitioned to full blown âco-conspiratorâ. Volker has probably provided info on this which the House Intel is using to cross reference and pose questions to him. The OMB folks are going to have to come clean on the orders that Mulvaney issued.

Itâs not just being a patriot or not, although that should be the overriding factor. Other extenuating circumstances might be:
1). Reputation: does this person want to continue a career in government or not? I know these are political appointees, but some may have an interest in remaining in government service.
2). Do they trust the WH legal counsel alone for protection from any potential criminal exposure? Some may prefer appearing for House testimony with their own personal attorneys, to avoid being thrown under the bus at some point.
Mulvaney is the weak link that may force DOJ to get involved.
The projected total will also include sufficient funds to pay off Puerto Ricoâs debt, so keep that in mind as you make your decision.
