President Biden heads to Arlington, Virginia to host veterans and members of the military before the group heads to Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate Veterans Day.
Let us ever be mindful of each and every sacrifice made, on behalf of the American people, by our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, and friends.
We are reminded, everyday (especially now,) how fragile a hold we have on freedom and liberty; for those who have served in defense of the rest of us, we thank you, and will never forget the debt you are owed by a grateful nation.
U.S. troops wounded by Iranian missile strikes on air bases in Iraq who were discouraged from applying for a Purple Heart medal while Donald Trump publicly minimized their injuries will now have their Purple Heart applications processed
Whether his original statement was made with mistaken information or deliberate, what happened is disgusting. I guess Cadet Bone Spurs prefers veterans who weren’t wounded.
The film Thirteen Days had graphic and compelling narrative of this very thing. The irony is that, while the deterrence John F. Kennedy had to include was weaponry… our deterrence falls to outvoting the Republican Party and out-maneuvering Trump’s lawyers.
No person who lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis could have imagined fighting, 59 years later, our fellow citizens for our own freedom.
This I guarantee: Biden will do something like take out a handkerchief to sneeze or something and the howls of outrage will echo miles into the sky. Cognitive tests! I’m so ashamed for my country! It’s a body double! Look at these pictures of the real Biden’s earlobes and look at this one from today! Yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda!
As a veteran, I very much appreciate your words. However, for some, like me, who were drafted during the Vietnam War, it never really felt like I was defending the US from anything. It seemed worthless. So, let’s remember the many many people who have served, risked their lives, and came home wounded (psychologically and physically), whether voluntarily or involuntarily, for no just cause. That’s a painful truth.
Federal Judge Again Rejects Trump Effort To Block Jan. 6 Committee’s Subpoena
Former President Trump’s attempts to stonewall the Jan. 6 select committee have failed for the third time in two days.
The National Archives intends to provide some materials to the committee as early as Friday.
In a ruling late last night, U.S. District court Judge Tanya Chutkan said she would refuse to stay her decision the day before, which denied the former president’s request an injunction that would bar the committee from accessing executive branch records created during his administration.
Chukan cited President Biden’s refusal to exert executive privilege over documents that Trump has sought to keep out of the hands of the committee.
‘This court will not effectively ignore its own reasoning in denying injunctive relief in the first place to grant injunctive relief now,’ Chutkan wrote."]
If you take a step back and think about if this has happened in a different era -an American President attempted to subvert the Constitution and the will of the people to install himself as king, and was willing to kill any number of congressional members, and even his own Vice-President, you’d be appalled.
But it gets worse. We have a small but very significant percentage of Americans who not only cheered on this coup, cheered about killing the Vice-President, but also tried actively to make it happen.
I have come to truly appreciate how that Chinese proverb about living in interesting times is a horrible curse.
Thank you for posting this, and thank you for serving. – it is the absolute truth. Veterans do not start the wars, but they suffer the consequences more than the rest of us. And they sure have to make often terrible sacrifices for us. And Veteran families, too. That is the important thing to me – that we acknowledge and support and honor those, like you, who have served in the military.
Another day, another chapter in the further obstinance of NJ’s Tump toady …
so yesterday’s Smiling Jack fantasy was that the gap would magically close to 1% or roughly 26K … and then they figured they could justify a call for a recount - even though still way behind
Well … here we are November 11th, 2021 and the lead continues to GROW!
MURPHY now up by 2.9% … 73,814 vote margin
Since today is Veteran’s Day - there probably won’t be updates … but as numbers do continue to come in from the mail-in ballots and provisional ballots - it would seen that the past week’s trend of skewing toward Murphy will continue… a final winning margin of 3+% appears quite likely
The folks on the right are still pissed at our side using “dotard” as an invective.
I can’t remember who first described him as a dotard, do you?
Some on the right use Biden’s stutter as a sign that he’s not that bright. As opposed to the ramblings of Trump that had no point, theme, or even info.
Still kind of surprised that Donnie hasn’t stepped up to fill Rush’s shoes, and time slot.
I predict the rightwing media will avoid covering anything about Biden today, because he’s going to talk about how this is the first Veteran’s Day in 20 years that we haven’t been at war in Afghanistan. That’s a message that will resonate in a positive way for most folks, and the rightwing mediasphere won’t want to draw attention to it. They’ll ignore him today.
