No knock on Kate because every outlet uses the phrase, but does ‘hyper-partisanship’ grate on anybody else? It sounds to me like a both-sides framing of the situation when, as usual, Democrats try everything they can within reason (and depending on your POV possibly beyond reasonable limits) to find a solution that will bring a few Republicans along. It is only Republicans which are steadfast in their refusal to do anything which might be considered a ‘win’ for Democrats and/or Biden.
Democrats are trying to find solutions to problems. Republicans are trying to stop Democrats from doing anything. Is this “hyper-partisanship”? Are Democrats really being “partisan” here? I dunno…rubs my fur the wrong way.
“Republican obstructionism” is how I see it.

Perhaps the desert tortoise is a different critter, but they look up down and all around. Indeed, the tortoise perspective of the world is low to the ground, but they pay attention. For example, a desert tortoise can travel away from its burrow, say 5 miles. zigging and wandering, and then follow a beeline path it may not have used for years to return directly and precisely to its burrow. None of this is smell, just visual memory. Also fighting males are so crazy about fighting that they will flip their opponent on his back (most of the time they can eventually right themselves), but then will flip him again just to keep the sparring going.
