Why the desperation to pretend this was driven more by dislike of Palin than the effect of Dobbs? Every media is saying this. Palin is popular in Alaska. Peltola campaigned extensively on abortion rights.

Yeah, it’s funny how well a totally arranged piece can work for a jazz band. “Spain” comes to mind. I always wanted to take a crack at that in this jazz trio I was in a few years back, but we never put it together.
I don’t blame you for being just a bit nerved up playing with the greatest bass player in our lifetimes since Paul Chambers. He was kind of a nut but damn if he couldn’t write his own ticket and play what the hell he wanted with who the hell he wanted. Like Bird that way. Just an overweening talent.

There’s an interesting connection between her and Young, and Palin. Her dad was good friends with Young, and Peltola is friends with Palin.

Turnout was crazy low up here in AK, something like 38%, I saw the numbers but don’t recall exactly.
I think she put together a winning coalition of voters. I’m afraid her pro pebble mine stance might have been the winner but at the same time I think she will stand by the rule of law on this issue rather then rat fucking the state the way a more extractive rep would.
And yes wemon had a reason TJ show up at the polls but can’t say that was a factor, our AK state constitution provides for abortion rights via right to privacy. Every ten years we have a vote on wether we want a constitutional convention so this could drive anti choice voters this fall?
Still won’t say I didn’t get a little teary eyed when my gal told me the results this evening…

Wow, major respect for that here. Jaco was a force of nature. I drifted away from that kind of music over the years but still remember the live gigs I saw with him.

FYI, in blue-ass MA we shot down ranked choice in 2020. It was a real shame because the opposition wasn’t super aggressive. But they did enough to confuse the layman, and we on the pro side just assumed everyone would accept it because duh. Not enough education on the subject and our arrogance tanked it, alas.
