They keep thinking nobody’s going to notice the Gilead rulings if they’re super sneaky about it, because apparently they can’t grasp that when you make more than 50% of the population biological prisoners, it’s going to get a reaction.
That said, the most overlooked aspect of the Handmaids Tale is that what truly vaults the regime into power is the willingness of alleged allies to go along with restrictions bit by bit until it was all too late. Based on how alleged progressives responded to the Hillary Clinton candidacy ( who can forget “fear mongering about the Supreme Court”?) I’m not hopeful. Just identity politics, distracting from Real Issues.

Wouldn’t the US Marshalls or some other kind of security be notified and potentially involved if the threats were credible? Something about how he just casually threw it out there and then indicated there would be no gag order didn’t sit right with me. I read the entire record which sounded like housekeeping and then he just mentions threats. Wierd.

I keep wondering about that. Specifically, what’s the legal remedy the MAGAs are seeking here?
Can a district judge overrule an FDA decision and order a drug off the market, or order it reclassified as Schedule III, or … what?
I’m not a lawyer, so I’m probably wong here, but I don’t think a district judge has the authority for that kind of decision.
Any lawyers here care to comment on that?

Kinda similar to Roberts et al. suddenly asking about the “fairness” of student loan debt forgiveness. I mean, it’s REALLY fair to make it perfectly legal to buy and carry a gun anywhere (except the SC of course) even though a huge majority doesn’t want it to be?

My understanding is that the appellate court would be the Fifth Circuit. So it seems pretty likely they’ll look for any excuse to support Kacsmark’s inevitably misogynistic travesty of a ruling.
