On March 10, Judge Kacsmaryk in the northern district of Texas gathered the lawyers in a banner case over mifepristone, the abortion pill, to tell them of an upcoming hearing in the case — that he was keeping secret.

“Death threats”? From us lefties? More likely from Judge K’s supporters, co-religionists, and trumpies. But I repeat myself.
Maybe by “death threats” he means messages pointing out that if the judge forbids the use of this drug for “safety” reasons the lives of women across the nation will be endangered.
He said that the case so far has brought “a barrage of death threats and protesters and the rest.”
The major issue here is that the overwhelming majority of these death threats are against good upstanding Republicans… WE CANNOT STAND for that.
There is even a question about an FDA approval? If so, where does that put more recent medications that have been approved by the FDA such as the Covid Vaccines? This is a case that should never have gotten a hearing. Since when does any Judge know more than scientists and a 20 year record of success for a medication.
Corrupt judge doesn’t want people watching him do his corrupt acts. Pretty obvious.
The issue is when it is a REPUBLICAN judge they always profess to know more, and the major media lets them slide.

I can see an appellate court overturning the decision (which some have said is pre-determined, given the judge in charge), just on the basis of this secrecy.

The death threats are all bullshit. The first thing a bully does is make himself into the fucking victim to justify the violence he’s about to unleash. Fuck this judge and fuck everyone on the right.
The order says that the hearing will be open to the public – as it should be – but not letting people know about it until the last minute is wrong. If the judge is so concerned, he should just arrange for extra security. Almost sounds like he’s afraid of the repurcussions of taking away the safest option for women to get non-surgical abortions.
