Evangelical and Christian Fanatics are not interchangeable terms. In modern American usage “evangelical” is a superlative adjective for a super Christian. If one is a super dooper Christian there are things that can be expected of them. The don’t hate. They don’t judge. They don’t lie. They don’t treat “the least among us” like shit and they share their wealth with those in need. They don’t sit in multi-million dollar gilded mega churches and ignore those a few blocks down the street sleeping in cardboard boxes. They don’t “pray like the hypocrites do” and then speed off to a big lunch at a 3 star joint while ignoring folks in the parking lot begging for a bite to eat.
The term evangelical does not bother me. No meaningless term does.

And those mentioned cannot possibly believe as they say they do. If you claim not to believe in gravity but refuse to jump off a cliff your actions speak the truth. If you truly believe there’s an unbullshitable God that will Judge your eternity would you offend Him? Break His commandments? Take His name in vain to obtain wealth and comfort? Hell no but you’d sure as hell want the sheep to believe.
