IIRC, it was “no new fracking on public lands”…
That’s a mighty long way from “killing” it.

“What do you have to say about the charge that you’re soft on communism?”
Oldest play in the book.
“Your critics say X about you. How do you respond?”
Would be OK if (1) everyone were asked the same sort of question; and (2) it was not the only question, re-phrased ad nauseam.
Would be even better if the validity or invalidity of X was first established – but that would be too much like work.
Yep, it’s the laziest journalism possible. Laziest debate moderation possible too.
Vice-President Harris (may I call her that just to try it on for size?) is an incredibly intelligent, confident woman. Those answers were perfect.
She’s going to be awesome.
Kamala is on The View right now in case you want to watch her.
Thanks for the correction. It was a Trump ad. I figured most (all?) of it was a lie
And now for something completely different:
So where does “resentment of the rich” stop and “clear-eyed understanding of economic reality” begin? Asking for a friend.
P.S.: The Cato Institute was originally known as the Charles Koch Foundation, and is about as far out on the right of the “libertarian robber-baron capitalist” axis as you can get without actually escaping earth’s gravity. Just noting that for context.
A logical and reasonable assumption to make. ![]()
The problem is that the koolaid drinkers will believe it’s 100% true because Dear Leader tells them it is.
The one where they teach that “neutrality” or “balance” is more important than truth.
Well, to be fair, he is the bigliest baby.
They’re deplorably irredeemable, and they’re a minority. Don’t care.
Some people say she makes Marx look like a conservative.
Dunking on shitty journalism is always worthwhile, but allow me to post something positive about the state of the world. Specifically, the State of Texas.
Kamala’s coming here, y’all!
I hope it’s going to be San Antonio, maybe even the Valley or El Paso (which has been way behind the rest of the state in early voting).
It was a classic 60 Minutes gotcha question, but it only works if you succeed in making the interview subject squirm with embarrassment. That’s hard to do from halfway across the room. Harris’s response was to snort milk out her nose and laugh in O’Donnell’s face, but again that had to travel a certain distance before it landed.
Why didn’t Gayle King do some of these interviews? It was a wall of white questioners.
I’m fine with neutrality and balance as journalistic values. I just fail to see how the lazy question of “Your opponents say you’re a fucking commie, how do you respond?” accomplishes anything that might remotely be described as informational.
Yes Jarad sure pulled himself up by his bootstraps. Born in the family of a real estate mogul. Had his dad donate $2 million for his admissions to Harvard. Oh and married into a family with chimera like wealth.
Echoing @brian512, “resentment” is such a loaded term.
People don’t resent them being rich, they resent them not paying their fair share.
I know I pay a lot more than $750 in taxes every single year, and don’t have a single building to show for it.
