Post removed. Already stated by others more gracefully. I really need to read through all comments before posting!
When Rubbermaid wanted Walmart to carry its goods, Walmart showed them the steps. The first step was to shift all production out of the US to China. Walmart did this to everyone. Whole cities in China specialize in specific types of manufacture, tons of it for Walmart. Trump should be spanking America’s largest employer every time he talks about his trade fetish.
Walmart was a huge, huge part of this manufacturing globalization. Trump should pound them for it, call for a boycott, even— if he’s serious.
it explains all about it.
Imagine if an environmentalist president said that for the good of future generations and the planet, we would have to accept some pain.
“How do you get China to change without creating something pain on them and us? I don’t know,” he added.
English is hard.
Or that the filthy rich might have to be less filthy rich.
Maybe they’d settle for dirty rich.
“How do you get China to change without creating something pain on them and us? I don’t know,” he added.
There’s your quote for Jamie Harrison (the person running against Graham in the upcoming election) to run non-stop in ads next year. I hope he uses it.
“We’ve just got to to accept the pain that comes with standing up to China.”
Says the wealthy Senator who will not feel any of the pain himself. Lindsey shut the f up. Those of us who will be casualties of Trump’s trade war don’t want to hear it.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
They shut down entire Main Streets from coast to coast.
They did a job on Master Lock here in Milwaukee, a company that advertised during the Super Bowl for years (padlock getting hit with a bullet). Walmart, well on the way to being dominant retailer in the country, brutalized them on price. Those ads stopped and jobs here were shipped to China. During Obama’s 2nd term they moved some of the jobs back to much praise.
“The Democrats for years have been claiming that China should be stood up to,” Graham told “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan. “Now Trump is, and we’ve just got to to accept the pain that comes with standing up to China.”
Such willful ignorance and utter bullshit.
In the first place, if the US really wanted to “stand up to China”, then the US should have embraced its allies instead of alienating them and got all of NATO and the EU to go along with trade sanctions against the IP thieves. In the second place, the US shouldn’t have bailed out of the TPP and provided an additional advantage for China. In the third place, it takes a willfully ignorant and/or monumentally stupid damned fool to start a trade war by raising tariffs, which any student of History would tell you greatly deepened the Great Depression. And finally, it takes an incredible imbecile to throw tantrums that rock investor’s confidence when things aren’t going his way.
Lindsey Graham knows better. The only reason he’s such a pansy-assed milquetoast right now is because he needs the pro-Trump mouth-breathing deplorables to get his pansy-ass reelected. Period.
Trump is not only wrecking our economic engine, he’s smashing the entire world’s economic system. He could have gotten much better results with China if he had worked the G7 as a team. Instead, he works to Putin’s benefit. I’d say Trump is a bull in a china shop, but the truth is that he’s just a large spoiled toddler throwing bricks during a tantrum. Unfortunately, he’s throwing bricks through castles built entirely of crystal.
Holy shit I wanted to like that guy. Fuck the NFL altogether for another season I guess.
I don’t want to watch Lindsey Graham ever gain, unless he’s committing some ritual excision of his sorry self out of my Congress.
OK. Fine. I have never likde hypocrite Lindsey Graham.
But he, unfortunately, has a point.
One of the endless rants from the Left in 2016 was “TPP”.
That was their primary argument for Trump over Clinton. Aud Nauseaum.
Clinton was a corporate whore because she supported TPP.
Bernie Bros. Where are you now? Please, how is Trump letting you down?
TPP is a bad agreement with lots of non-trade-related features.
The export boom accounted for a lot of Obama’s strength in the upper Midwest in 2012.
Can I least get a “Tut-tut”?
Just because Lindsey is accustomed to bending over and accepting the pain doesn’t mean the rest of us have to.
Words from senator Ben Dover.
Bleeding ears are painful.
