The recently demoted director of the federal agency leading COVID-19 research says he was given the boot because he insisted on thoroughly vetting the drug that President Donald Trump has sold as a miracle cure, hydroxychloroquine.
It must give Donnie a Fright that Bright was Right.

Bright said in his statement that he clashed with HHS political leadership over vaccine investment and other matters, as well as “efforts to fund potentially dangerous drugs promoted by those with political connections,” though he did not specify who.
Gee, I wonder who that might be. Does is rhyme with RUMP?
Firing a scientist because he told the truth and has ethics. Yep. It’s pure Trump. Petty, mean spirited and entirely political. There’s no redeeming feature of this terrible man. None.
. . . not to mention criminally negligent with absolutely no regard for public safety and health.

Bad Matt. The hacks and scoundrels and rump kissers and the terribly unfit and terribly dangerous president promoting the drugs against the advice of genuine experts don’t deserve the protective cover you gave them with the passive voice.

Trump said “And it may work, and it may not work. But if it doesn’t work, it’s nothing lost by doing it. Nothing.”
Except time wasted, resources wasted, lab space spent on a wasted effort, slowing down the actual working vaccine development.
But let’s face it, Trump has no interest in whether it actually works. He wants to throw out this ridiculous idea and be opposed so he can pick the fight and show off to his base about how much he wins. Plus make money off the snake oil.

If he thought demotion was bad, he should brace himself for major work harassment, public humiliation and dead threats, 'casue the Trumtards aregoing to come down hard on him for smearing the Dear Leader.

“I will request that the inspector general of the Department of Health and Human Services investigate the manner in which this administration has politicized the work of BARDA and has pressured me and other conscientious scientists to fund companies with political connections and efforts that lack scientific merit,” he said. “Rushing blindly towards unproven drugs can be disastrous and result in countless more deaths. Science, in service to the health and safety of the American people, must always trump politics.”
Dr. Bright has hired the lawyers Debra Katz and Lisa Banks, who have a whistle-blower practice and are known in part for representing Christine Blasey Ford, who, during the nomination process of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, accused him of engaging in sexual misconduct decades earlier, a claim he denied.
In a statement, the lawyers called Dr. Bright’s change in position “retaliation plain and simple,” and said that they planned to ask the Office of Special Counsel to seek a stay of his termination from the position and that he eventually be restored to it after investigations.
Watching Trump’s pressers is like watching a trainwreck of a chain reaction. Or one of those desktop executive toys Newton’s craddle.
And deaths, for some reason Trump doesn’t care, can’t conceive of, or makes no difference to him if other people die when following his advise. All he has is a big OOPS.
