GOPers Criticize Trump’s Planned Meeting With The Taliban

Several Republicans over the weekend criticized President Donald Trump’s plans for a secret now-cancelled meeting with the Taliban at Camp David, which was supposed to be held several days before the anniversary of 9/11.

“The President is right to end the talks.”

Lmao. Lizard Cheney just couldn’t help sucking up to ttump. Why was he so wrong in the first place to even start the talks?

My sister is convinced this entire thing is phony. Now I’m beginning to wonder myself. As in, “unbeknownst” to me (Turmeric Tsar a takzhe Q-tip 2020 campaign manager) Brad Parscale cooked up yet another stunt to hijack the news, this time to deflect from Skitch Travelgate.

These weasels honestly don’t care. They won’t lift a finger other than “sternly worded” criticisms. Trump could invite the Taliban to live in the White House permanently and the GOP wouldn’t do anything.

He has to meet him somewhere, And since the Taliban is not going to pay Camp David it is. If they were then the Doral would be adecuate. Or maybe Doonbeg or Turnberry. Or maybe the guys are to crummy and he doesn’t want him in his hotels.

Seen on Twitter… given this “planned meeting” on the eve of 9-11

This is a fluff story (meant to give Indies a false idea that the GOP is not in absolute subservience to Trump)

…up there with the Blunt gun control “demand” of Trump.

“We thought about this a long time and ultimately the President made the decision…"

More like “suddenly”. I don’t think ttump was a part of the “we” since he obviously couldn’t have thought for a long time. Btw “decision” is too strong a word to use on ttump.

Wow, talk about optics, Liz Cheney is probably the worst person to trot out to talk about 9/11.

Something doesn’t add up. Pompeo was on TV this morning claiming that the US has killed over 1,000 Taliban in the past week. Is that something you do before peace talks? Maybe Trump does.

The art of the deal. So special.

Why are the Repukes criticizing Deferment Don?
Do they see the end of the line?
Maybe they think if they mildly criticize him they can claim they spoke out against the coward when they start losing.

I just like to add that, like many of you, I don’t believe there was any meeting planned. However, if there was a meeting planned, don’t you feel good knowing Trump spent the entire week preparing for this meeting by obsessing over Alabama and using a sharpie on a fucking map?

If he wants a Nobel Peace prize that bad, he should just resign. The world will stand and cheer, especially if he takes his bozo, Brexiteer twin with him.

Or, a desperate intervention cooked up by WH staff to disrupt Prez. Mumpsimus off of his Alabama hurricane obsession.

Now that is a beautiful fantasy. Maybe we can use Trump’s magic sharpie and make it a reality - on tv?

I’m right there with you.

The Taliban spokesman said no meeting was planned, and that any deal was to be announced in one of the Gulf states, though I forget which one (I think it was Bahrain.)

At this point, I trust the Taliban to be more truthful than Trump, all day long.

And if it were this - it would clearly morph into another obsession now he is roundly being criticized for it - yet another WH adult daycare staff Fail.

Because if whining for a week about an issue is going to be a thing, Trump tends to pick the issue that makes him look the absolute worst.

Has anyone seen any evidence that Taliban members where actually ticketed and/or on their way before he “cancelled”?
