…protection through the end of the month anyway. New motion to vacate, new deal needed
Kev has his job because everyone knows how feckless he is. The raving loons do not want effective leadership, and he’s no threat to anyone in the caucus.
Agreed, but how long is “eventually,” and how much damage will have been done by the time we get there?
He’s going to be under a lot of pressure by the rest of his caucus to keep it short. Maybe a week? I don’t know.
The question that gets being asked is, “how does this end”. For the record, I have no idea. Another question that should be asked is if, as in the past, the public blames Republicans, why would Democrats save McCarthy and Republicans?
Noting that we will not know any secrete terms initially but will likely find out at some point as Democrats should have more brains then to trust any verbal commitments from McCarthy, what you are suggesting is a deal Democrats cannot make.
Yet it, as you correctly point out, is the only deal McCarthy can make.
Hence I do not believe there will be a deal between McCarthy and Democrats whereby McCarthy puts a bill on the floor that will gain Democratic support and can pass the Senate in exchange for McCarthy keeping his Speakership with the votes of Democrats.
Now which of us is right will depend on how the public reacts. But if the public reacts by blaming Republicans, they will have to figure this out for themselves. I mean if the Republican ship is going down with the shutdown, why would Democrats do anything but wait for the rats to start jumping ship.
When asked in an interview with CNN Thursday whether he still supports Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) amid the looming shutdown crisis, Burchett said he has “questions” and “doubts” about it.
“We need leadership,” he said, later citing Pelosi as an example.
Let’s check the tapes!
Guess it sucks when you get exactly what you voted for.
I hope you’re right, but my guess is closer to 3 weeks before the damage becomes so evident to the dimwits on his side of the aisle that they’ll end it. And that will be disastrous, although the electoral consequences may offset some of the immediate pain.

RADICAL REBUBS APROVE ABORTIONS!!!
In stunning news today, radical far right rebublicans in congress aborted multiple attempts to pass bills to fund the government.
When asked about various procedures, one congressman said that they tried to get a 15 minute debate approved, but hardcore members nixed that, saying that any bill must be aborted at the moment of inception, Other reasons cited included if a bill was forced upon them, comparing it to rape.
Another congressman said any bill proposed by a member of their own caucus would be the product of incest.
Quoting partial lyrics from Joni Mitchell, and referencing missing Pelosi.
… Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got 'til it’s gone
Spot on.
Pelosi was never confronted with having to find common ground among a group of cynical individuals who’s sole interest was focused on their personal political advantage, even to the extent of forsaking the Constitution itself.
Well, there are certainly enough GOP pols who would happily “pave paradise and turn it into a parking lot”.
If only.
Part of the deal should be no impeachment inquiry.
And a magic unicorn that farts rainbows and pixiedust!
I’m expecting to see my Social Security check go missing and should the madness of the goobers in the House dissipate my missing funds will not be forthcoming.
Social Security payments will not be interrupted. Their appropriation is permanent, not annual.
Except the GOP’s operating paradigm is goppioni (=GOP Partisan Interest Over National Interest)
I guess insulting Kevin’s momma wouldn’t be hurtful enough so he went there
All very well, Mr. Burchett, but your party now consists all most entirely of a gang of vandals and a hoard of cowards who enable them. Leadership is sadly irrelevant. But sure, go ahead, blame the coward at the head of the cowardly hoard.
