Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota, a Republican often mentioned as a potential 2024 candidate, said she did not believe Mr. Trump offered “the best chance” for the party in 2024.
“If we narrow our focus there, then we’re not talking to every single American,” Ms. Noem said in an interview as she sat across a mahogany table from her political adviser, Corey Lewandowski, who served as campaign manager for an early portion of Mr. Trump’s 2016 bid. “Our job is not just to talk to people who love Trump or hate Trump. Our job is to talk to every single American.”

Some people (like Sarah Palin) seem to enjoy campaigning more than governing. They really love being the center of attention. There is a guy, very intellectually incurious, who shelled out $4000 of his own money to run for local council a second time. I think the highlight of his life was being in the chamber forum where people had to watch him for a few minutes. He also shows up at council meeting during the year, and speaks on various items, then posts the link to his performance on social media, asking people to watch it. Some of his positions changed 180* this year after a couple of manipulators found out that he would do and say things they wanted if they paid him the slightest bit of attention every once in a while. Fortunately, he never wins, because I think he would love being the star in a Benghazi-type shitshow.

The MSM response to these antics are key. If CNN and Faux go with breathless “both sides” reporting the rest won’t stand by and watch. The rest will join in reluctantly at first noting how there is no “there” there and then conveniently drop the pretense and go all in on the ratings and clicks. It’s inevitable.

The culprits are Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY). But it’s not just them. It’s the whole right-wing apparatus rolling out the B-E-N-G-H-A-Z-I playbook.
Man, they’re slow learners. If what you’re doing isn’t working, try something else or bear down and do what you know will eventually work. This is neither. It’s just dumb. Suddenly nobody cares about gas and crudité prices any more? Suddenly everyone’s once again fascinated with Hunter Biden? Idiots.
I don’t know much about Jonathan Swan except that one interview in which Trump was yammering about his imaginary reports and statistics and Swan kept asking who said that, in what book did you read that, repeatedly challenging him to say what the source was, and demonstrating it was all baseless and made up. He was widely lauded as having shown everyone how you deal with Trump. But OK, fluffer, sure, whatever you say.
