It’s about time that the major cities get proper representation!
The stupidity is the point, I think; it’s part and parcel of the anti-intellectualism that has overtaken the GQP. Republicanism can basically be boiled down to, “How dare you think yer better’n me!”
Article 4 section 3 of the Constitution applies methinks but I bet she never read it.
That’s got to pushing up against the time limit for the degree.
Don’t be so silly. Every body knows that the only person recently who tried to seize the Federal government was one D.J.Trump.
Supported only by fools who believed his lies.
The Founder’s concerns made sense prior to modern transportation but no longer do so.
I took it as she graduated from the Citadel in1999, and then after doing something somewhere then went to Univ. of GA. and got her degree in 2004.
As God as my witness I did not write this Congresswoman’s bio. Do you think that because she can’t write a coherent resume she ended up in politics?
She was actually the first woman to go through the Citadel, which requires a lot of guts and fortitude. I admire her for that. But I don’t admire her for being a slightly smarter cookie cutter Republican.
It’s never slowed them down because they can reliably count on nearly all of their base being just as uninformed, uninterested and not-giving-a-shit-if-the-claim-is-correct-or-not as they are.
No, she’s just well-prepped to deliver the lies the GQP need their cultish followers to absorb and mimic to prevent any meaningful progress in areas which don’t lead to lining the pockets of their benefactors (and which increasingly align with Mother Russia).
In addition to DC, over 4-Million citizens live without voting reps. The United States currently administers 16 insular areas as territories:
- American Samoa.
- Guam.
- Northern Mariana Islands.
- Puerto Rico.
- United States Virgin Islands.
- Minor Outlying Islands. Bajo Nuevo Bank. Baker Island. Howland Island. Jarvis Island. Johnston Atoll. Kingman Reef. Midway Islands. Navassa Island. Palmyra Atoll.
OMG, this says it all.
I just googled the population of South Carolina, and the state has approximately 5.27 million people in 2021. It is the 23rd most populous state and its area is 32,030 square miles.
My google search also indicates that the population of California is 39.9 million in 2021.
The estimated population of Los Angeles County, which is in California, is just under 10 million, i.e., 9,969,510.
The area of San Bernardino County, which is also in California, is 20,160 square miles. It is the largest county in the world, and it is actually bigger in area than the country of Switzerland.
If Rep. Mace wants to play a numbers game, us Californians will be more than willing to take her on.
For the record, as a Native Kentuckian I would like point out the fact that Mitch McConnell is originally from Alabama.

Maybe she really meant to say that ‘There are three kinds of States in the Union. Some have large populations and some don’t.’
Nancy Mace, you must do your homework if you ever want to get out of the fourth grade.
The constitution grants one representative in the House of Representatives for each state and then apportions the remaining members according to their population. Statute limits the total number of members of the House to 435.
The result then is not that Mace does not only suffer from a logic deficiency, she suffers from a knowledge deficiency as well. This duel deficiency however eminently qualifies her to be a member in good standing of the Republican Part y.
You’ve pretty much expressed my exact thoughts, too, @dave_mb, AND made me suspect/realize that those two (initially-irreconcilable, to me, anyway) ideas may NOT be so far apart after all.
What do you think the chances are that she made it through by being the biggest, assholiest (heh, heh, I kinda like that’n!), most-white-cis-hetero-christianist-nativist-etc.-male-supremacist cadet there? The more I think about it, the more I’m leaning toward 100%!
DC and PR both deserve statehood. That’s extending representation to roughly 3.5 million people and would result in 4 new Senators and possibly 5 more House members* AND 8 or 9 more electoral college votes (if I’ve got that correct - electoral college votes = senators + congressional reps). The # of house members is fixed by legislation at 435 but could be increased if statehood were granted to DC and PR.
*720,000 people per congressional district in the US.
Thank you. Doesn’t mean anything, but thanks for the info.
