‘Not In Favor’ Of That The Senate Majority Leader offered a pretty watered-down defense of the Constitution Tuesday in response to President Trump’s ominous new threats to attempt to federalize elections. Trump had suggested in a recent interview with none other than Dan Bongino — out of the FBI and safely back to his conspiracy…

“Can I prove it? No.”

This applies to literally every GOP hobby horse. If reality doesn’t conform to your bed of lies, hack off its legs until it fits.

Almost forgot about that elfin little dweeb. People like MJ are why the average person hates politicians. Stoking lies to placate his lord and spanker, donald. Holding on to his shitty do-nothing job for as long as he can, until he becomes minority leader and has to go back to doing the same exact nothing he does as speaker.

Well, actually, Trump wants “the Republican Party” to “nationalize” elections. No wonder there are so few objections from his captive, cowardly Congress.

I am supposed to hate Donald Trump for suggesting Republicans nationalize elections. I don’t like what Trump is suggesting but he thinks “Republicans” (presumably in Congress) are so in his pocket that they would try it. I really hate congressmen and women who are so in the tank for Trump they would abandon their own obligations to the Constitution and vote for the legislation Trump is demanding.

Just more lawless behavior from this “administration” (aka criminal gang). I’m not surprised at any of this crap; it’s been normalized. Do these idiots not understand that one must prove (at very least swear to) citizenship at the time they register? Do they really believe that busloads of “illegal immigrants” roll up to polling stations on Election Day? We live in interesting times, my friends. Gotta go, don’t want to be late for the Two Minutes Hate.

Trump attacks CNN’s Kaitlan Collins over Epstein files questions
President Donald Trump deflected from questions about the Epstein files by complaining that he never sees CNN’s Kaitlan Collins smile.

During an Oval Office briefing on Tuesday, Collins asked Trump about the recently released tranche of Epstein documents which include references to his associates including Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

Trump admitted that he hadn’t read through the files but said he was sure that their mention in the files was “fine” because otherwise there would have been “major headlines.” There were, in fact, major headlines about the individuals named in the files.

Collins continued to push Trump on Epstein and the president said he wants the country to move past the files.

“I think it’s really time for the country to get onto something else, really,” Trump said.

When Collins pushed again, asking about justice for the women victimized by Epstein’s operation, Trump got angry and began ranting about CNN and called Collins “the worst reporter.” He then complained that she never smiled.
“You know she’s a young woman,” Trump said to the rest of the room before redirecting to Collins. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile.”

He continued, saying that “I’ve known you for 10 years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face."

“Well I’m asking you about survivors of Jeffrey Epstein, Mr President,” Collins said.

Trump interrupted and spoke over her, saying he thinks the reason she doesn’t smile is because “you know you’re not telling the truth.”

Profiles in Cowardice, Tariff Edition - Paul Krugman

Donald Trump loves tariffs. Mainly, I believe, he loves them because they offer so much opportunity for dominance displays, allowing him to threaten other countries with economic ruin — usually via middle-of-the-night Truth Social posts — unless they bend to his whims. Economists may say that most of the damage inflicted by tariffs falls on American consumers and businesses, not foreigners, but Trump’s attachment to tariffs is doubtless strengthened by economists’ disapproval — he wants to show that he’s smarter than the so-called experts.

Furthermore, tariffs give him power without checks and balances. He can impose huge taxes on imports without having to go through annoying stuff like getting legislation through Congress.

Or can he? By any reasonable standard, most of Trump’s tariffs are plainly illegal. Two lower courts have ruled against them. The Trump administration appealed those decisions, and in early November the Supreme Court heard arguments on the case. Many businesses that have found it impossible to make long-term plans with the fate of the Trump tariffs in limbo eagerly awaited the Court’s ruling.

They’re still waiting. And I can’t see any plausible explanation for the delay other than Supreme cowardice.

For a right-wing justice, ruling in the Trump administration’s favor in such an open-and-shut case would amount to admitting that you’re a pure partisan hack. And even the right-wing faction on the court is trying to maintain the fiction that it’s still a deliberative body, not a MAGA rubber stamp.

Right-wing justices don’t want to humiliate Trump, and they’re surely afraid of what will happen if they do. So they’re damned if they do the right thing, damned if they don’t.

lol, this from a guy who bankrupted 6-7 business’ and a casino..how does one bankrupt a casino?

And yet a majority of white women voted for Trump. I am not sure exactly what that tells us, but I find it terribly discouraging.

I have to agree with our most pessimistic readers here - we are an unbelievably dumb and incurious country.
