I keep thinking about the claim
“the only way I lose if if they cheat”
to say that with such absolute conviction kinda tips the hand -
& indicates that that loss possibilities have been engineered out of the contest
and if one had contrived a clever “sure-thing” manipulation - then it would explain the disbelief …
He’s 100% projection so I generally take those things somewhat seriously. The whole time he was ranting and raving against mail in voting I knew there was something behind it and I believe this. I don’t believe he could possibly come up with more votes.
yes - this is all like a flash back to old creepy memories of odd characters with awful ways of making judgments about people (invariably heavily laden with bigotry )
Crotchety old guy - “Hey … look at that guy - he’s a no good bum”
Voice of Sanity - " Why would you say that? it is just ( a kid with long hair, a guy with a yamaka, a black guy … a black guy with a white girl … a hispanic kid … an old man with a limp … what ever…)
Crotchety old guy - in loud anger tone "He is - he is a f’ing bum … I know these things!! "
I no longer think in terms of Repugs and their thuggies attempting to take us back to the 18th century or even the middle ages. Hearing the latest group rant in DC brings to mind hulking anthropoid shapes in loincloths beating drums in the dark while gnawing mammoth knuckle-bones with the glow from their LED’s the firepit.
Trump also never once got above 50% of the national votes. More to the point, however, is approval ratings are polls of the general public, not just the people who end up voting. Trump juiced his turnout among disaffected, racially-aggrieved, low propensity white voter, while also (apparently, preliminarily) slightly reducing his gigantic loss margins with racial minority groups. In the meantime, Joe and Kamala increased the Dem votes cast in 2020 by roughly 20% over the 2016 total for Hillary and Barack’s win in 2012. There is a decent chance Joe will end up with 20% more votes than Barack won in 2008. It’s just an extraordinarily high turnout election because the stakes were so high for both sides.
I have listened to a lot of podcasts lately, many talking to people about Trump’s claims of massive fraud and stolen election. Whenever any discredited conspiracy is completely disproven to a Trumper, they always fall back on their belief that something must be off be cause there is NO WAY a majority of people voted for anyone over Trump, period. In their minds, since all of their friends support Trump, there is just no possibility that an actual majority of Americans don’t like him. Trump and the GOP are doing everything they can to inflame this stupidity. Most of the diehards here in Mesa are leaving FaceBook and going to “parlor” (or however you spell it), and are now criticizing FOX as part of this vast conspiracy.
There is nothing funny about this development. It is like finding out that there is a massive occult infection still ravaging the patient after all of the last ditch antibiotics have been thrown at a disease. Socialism, gun confiscation and BLM violence is playing like a never-ending loop on all of these people’s social media. It appearsd to be even more infectious than COVID.
By turning out 10 million more morons and/or assholes than in 2016. The data is simple and reliable.
Take Dallas County, Texas, for instance. It’s a blue oasis in a sea of red, but that means the elections are overseen by trustworthy Democratic elections officials and workers, who also oversee the tallying of the votes. Any GOP ballot-stuffing conspiracy would fail to survive first contact with the good people responsible for Dallas County’s elections.
Unless you’re willing to call our local elections officials a bunch of GOP shills, Trump managed to juice his actual vote totals in Dallas County by about 17%.
ETA, just for comparison:
Hillary 2016: 461,080 votes
Joe 2020: 598,576 votes
Not only did he have to come up with more votes to move the total from 2016 to 2020 …
there is the issue of the very real attrition that he was be hit with in various demographic groups -
… just for the sake of argument - let’s say he lost about 3 million potential votes - (people who said yeah I did in 2016 … but not this time ) …
well to be up by 10+ million over 2016 … he actually had to find 13+ million … where did all of those eligible voters come from ? how did they materialize ?
Contrary to trump’s logic - I don’t outright reject the possibility (I do question it ) but I would like to see exactly how it happened …
Gee - I guess it is a bit like if I looked at Trump’s bank account and in 2020 it showed 10+ billion more than 2016 … but it was also understood that he had taken a roughly 3 Billion loss in that time … and there were scant documents to support the idea that the business had really made that much money … you would wonder where the 13 billion came from !
