Charlie Baker despises Trump. He can barely contain it. I was very disappointed he wouldn’t say he’d vote for Biden, though I’d lay bets on it that he did.
I hear there are some openings in the Defense Department – Richard Hopkins has a bright future in Trumpistan!

Baker is trying to play the middle ground. While he spoke out against President Trump in the past, if you read the statements they are very mild and general. He has an eye towards the future. The problem is he has a terrible record in dealing with real issues in Massachusetts such as the corruption in the State Police Department (he is just hopping it goes away), infrastructure development, public mass transportation (traveling in the Boston area is horrific, and they wanted to host the Olympics?), etc. His covid-19 response has been middle of the road. He also does not communicate with the public in any meaningful manner. So now he comes out strong to hold up the banner of the moderate “Republican Party”? Sorry, that ship sailed. They can have him.

No argument that they should speak up, but it’s way past time for that. Show me one Senator who thought Trump should be impeached on both counts? The GOP is beyond redemption at this point, and Baker, could have done more sooner. If he want’s some kudos from me, he should change parties.

Trump hasn’t done a lick of work since the election. His schedule is empty while people are dying.
He is literally killing people.

A number of reasons:
- easy money as seen by the $136K given him,
- he did not like getting disciplined so it was an attempt at payback.
In both cases, the next few years are going to be hell and he had better squirrel that money away as he is going to need it. As someone who hired many, this episode is a big red flag, and I’m not sure I’d hire him for anything.

True. MA governors are a breed apart; see also: Bill Weld and Paul Celluci. Also Ed Brooke in the Senate. The only Republican I ever voted for was Weld, who ran to the left of Dem crazy person John Silber.

Since Mike Dukakis left office three decades ago, five out of six Massachusetts governors have been Republicans – a testament to how utterly useless the state Democratic Party is.
