There was a film called Donovan’s Reef which came out in the early 1960s. It starred John Wayne and had an interesting series of sub-plots.
One which probably escaped notice was one in which a government functionary of Asian descent lambasted his fellow Asians (in the presence of Europeans), ending his screed by talking about “Their (the Asians) abominable tongue”.
One of the worst developments of Trumpism and its attendant racism/bigotry is its embrace by the very same people that the racism/bigotry attacks
