Gohmert ‘Appealing’ Fine For Flouting New Security Screening | Talking Points Memo

Maybe they should just leave a subtle message of what they think of him by leaving rolls of toilet paper outside his office.

He’s got a point. Maybe they should just ban guns from the whole complex except for LEO, then everyone could just go through one metal detector at the entrance like regular citizens have to.

Is this the same group that insisted on putting metal detectors in schools?

Non-compliance means a $5,000 fine and going to the principal’s office…

Expel him…

Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX) has said he will seek to appeal a $5,000 fine he was assessed for flouting screening by metal detectors

That fine should be $5000 plus whatever funds he raises by mentioning it.

“New sheriff in town”

The phrase “lighten up” comes from the sheriff instructing the cowboys to drop off their six shooters at the jail before entering the saloon.

Ghomert needs to just lighten the fuck up.

Do you have more?

Just to be clear, who is he appealing to? Nancy?

Right, that works so well for every teenager that ever got caught sneaking out. “I’m grounded? That’s no fair!”

“Oh, you’re right dear, never mind” said no mom ever.

Louie, Louie IV, if you don’t want to comply with the new rules, and a LEO’s directions, then they could just shoot you, and claim that they “feared for their lives and other’s lives that were in the vicinity”. Or you could participate remotely now that the House has figured out how to hold Zoom committee meetings, and vote while not in the Chamber.

And what the hell is “unconstitutional” about it?

Only in that southern “aren’t you special, bless your heart” kind of way

You guys are always saying the government should be run like a business. No business would tolerate people violating clearly-stated policies.

I think it’s two things, one deliberate one instinctive. Complaining about a system set up by Democrats gets his name in the news and makes him look good to constituents.

The other part is entitlement. Republican Congresscritters think they’re special snowflakes, and they don’t have to follow any stinkin’ rules.

““It is beyond comprehension why any Member would refuse to adhere to these simple, common-sense steps to keep this body safe,” Pelosi said at the time.”

"Man is not born to solve the problem of the universe, but to find out what he has to do; and to restrain himself within the limits of his comprehension.

And those limits will cost the congressman $ 5,000.

A lot of the people that Louie’s friends want to kidnap, shoot, or rape can easily be identified by their sex and skin color. So if this happens again expect heroic defenses by people who are cornered and can not hide.

Since January 11 there is a new Sergeant at Arms who is going to make it difficult for enemies from within or outside of Congress to pull off Act II.

Also grow the fuck up. This iteration of the RebubliQan party acts - and thinks - like a bunch of sophomoric adolescents.

The thing is, they’re allowed to have their guns in their offices, so there’s no reason for trying to bypass the metal detectors other than to be assholes.

He’ll claim he was not aware… and he has a case there.
