That’s just the start. Any candidate aspiring to a position that involves access to classified information needs to undergo the full security investigation, to make sure they’re eligible for a clearance.
If Republicans refuse to vet any of their candidates, the FBI (or GSA) needs to do it. You can’t just have any random con man with an audience getting at the highest offices in the federal government.
